NC Voter Registration Deadline

I noticed this post over at Roberta's place. The voter registration deadline in North Carolina for the November 6th election is October 12 at 5:00 p.m. One stop absentee voting starts on October 18th. This is probably the most important election we've had in quite a while. We can not survive four more years of Obama. If you haven't registered, go do it ASAP, and for Christ's sake vote. All of our rights, our freedom, are at stake. Maybe your vote won't change a thing in the end. Not voting makes that definite.

SD: Homeowner shoots home invader

In South Dakota, a 21-year old home invader broke into a house and, using a blunt object, began to beat the 69-year old homeowner. The home owner managed to get his gun, and shoot the evil git dead.

Things sure have changed in Mayberry

In Mt. Airy, North Carolina, two armed robbers entered a convenience store. When the robbers threatened her husband, the clerk pulled her gun and "shot as much as that gun would let [her] shoot." She missed. they fled. No hits that anyone knows of except to the wall and door frame. Maybe she should work on her gun handling and marksmanship. Still, good work ma'am.

It's about winning.

In Seattle, guns, reloading ammo, competition shooting, and making videos of said competitions serve as evidence to support the accusation a person is a murderer. I don't kwon if the suspect did it or not but God forbid you build your case on the actual murder weapon and a motive. Also the prosecutors released the video to the press. Nothing like trying the case in the media or tainting the jury pool. Well, it's never been about justice, only winning.

H/T to Robb.

The word is negligently.

So a flight attendant in Philadelphia, with a CCW permit, forgot she had her revolver in her purse, and got caught with it at the airport's security checkpoint. That bit of carelessness got her arrested. It also cost her her permit, her gun, and probably her job.

A Philadelphia police officer then tried to unload the weapon and accidentally discharged it. It's really simple guys. If you don't know how to unload a particular firearm, leave it alone. If you don't pull the trigger, the gun won't discharge. So when you are unloading a firearm keep your finger off the trigger.

To the journalist who wrote this piece. The word you're looking for isn't accidentally. It's negligently. It takes an act of will, and in this case stupidity, to pull the trigger.

When she saw the masked man carrying pepper spray and he tried to use it on her, she opened fire. It is unknown if she actually hit the evil git, but he did flee. Good thinking and good work on her part.

Dredd

Dredd has what amounts to non stop action with very little downtime for little things like plot and character development. That's not really a complaint. I wasn't looking for art. The problem I dis have was the unnecessary blood and gore. I really didn't care to see the bodies go splat and the heads explode. I'm glad I watched it in 2D. 3D would have made it worse. It was good. Good enough to wait for the DVD.

Black Cat Mystery Comics #32

I was scanning comic book covers for a friend when I came across this old Harvey title, Black Cat Mystery Comics #32. The art is by Al Avison who during the Golden Age of Comics drew Captain America, The Green Hornet, and other titles. I can''t say the cover art is all that good, but the subject matter and layout are interesting,, and I like it.

Fast and Furious OIG Report: Whitewash

It's out. I haven't read it all of it yet. What I have read follows the White House narrative that it was a "botched" law enforcement investigation, but I did go through and count the redactions. I counted over 200. The DOJ is still hiding shit.

I have only one question and one additional observation at the moment and the observation isn't directly based on the report but a news report on the resignation of an assistant AG.

The question is don't we as the American people deserve to read the entire report? There should be no redaction of this report. The observation is simply that AG Holder is the boss. The report claims his scapegoats employees, from what I've read about the report, screwed up really big time. That makes him responsible for what happened. So when is he going to accept his responsibility and resign?

of course the answer to the question from the Obama Administration point of view is "WE decide what you need to know lowly peasant."

I also understand the Obama Administration has a problem with asking anyone on their side to accept personal responsibility for anything. Holder is going nowhere until January.

Now I'm just going to sit back and what the commentary and bullshit start flying here and there.

Oathbreaker

Voluntary, my ass. When no less than five police officers/deputies show up at your door in the middle of the night, ask you to voluntarily come on down town to answer a few questions, handcuff you and stuff you in the back of a patrol car for a ride downtown how do you think a reasonable person is going to interpret that? It's called under arrest buddy. No reasonable person is going to see it any other way, and for what crime?

A probation violation? My ass. Can you spell PRETEXTUAL. The man was arrested not for a possible probation violation but for embarrassing the President of the United States in the UNITED STATES.
President Obama you swore an oath to protect and defend the U. S. Constitution. All of it. Not just the parts that are convenient. When you or your Justice Department instigate shit like this, you violate your oath. You are an oathbreaker, a liar, and unfit to hold the office to which you were you were elected.

Google/You Tube tells El Presidente, "No"

An evil corporation stands up for free speech. It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Grrrrrrrr.

So, the Obama Administration's response to the protests and murders of Americans in the Middle East is to, 1) apologize and condemn the alleged film*, 2) send Marines to reenforce embassies in the Middle East, and, 3) ask Youtube to review the alledged film that is the reason for the protests in the Middle East to see if it meets their "stamdards". The unstated second half to this being "pull it".

EXCEPT, the alleged film isn't the reason the radical Islamists are rasing hell, commiting murder in the Middle East and attacking our embassies. It's their excuse. If it wasn't the alleged film it would be something else. They hate us. Any excuse will do. When the they do something like apologize for the alleged film or pressure YouTube to pull it you lend credence to the mullah's claim its the reason for the violence and its all our fault anyway. You spit on our constitution. You betray you office and oath. You give aid and comfort to the enemy, as if that's anything new.

Oh, I should give credit where credit is due. Sending the Marines to the embassies was a good thing. Send more.

*I guess what I saw was the trailer. Based on that it really does look like a piece of crap and waste of video. It looked worse than a Uwe Boll film. The protests are the only reason anyone is even giving it any attention and the best way to respond to it is to let it fade into  the obscurity it deserves.

Where appeasement leads...

Here in the good old U S of A, if somebody says something insulting about our repective religions we get mad. We debate. We call each other nasty names. We boycott. Some of us make general asses of ourselves. We don't murder people for speaking their minds.

Adherents of the religion of peace riot and murder innocents. They murder Americans. They murder representatives of our government. They attack American territory.

What does the current Administration do? The State Department condemns those who hurt the feelings of members of the religion of peace. They apologize? In years past, the Marines would be landing about now.

Does anyone else have this sense of deja vu?

Hey man, gotta have priorities.

Maybe that's because Fast and Furious wasn't...

...a botched law enforcement investigation into gun traffiking over the Mexican border, but an attempt to push a gun control agenda by the Obama Administration.
"We found no evidence in Operation Fast and Furious that the ATF or the (U.S. attorney's office) attempted at any point during the investigation to balance the risks to the public safety against the long-term benefits of identifying trafficking networks and participants," the draft report says.
It's easy to prove your thesis if your mind has already been made up your mind before you start investigating.

A bit of family history

My son asked me how Grandpa Owen and Grandma Erlene met. I was sure I had asked Mom myself but didn't remember the story so I asked again. Mom was working a a nurse at Duke Hospital. I guess the more accurate term was nurse n training. This was early in 1941. She had to have surgery for appendicitis and was at home to recover. At the time, she was living with her half brother Buddy and his wife, Lillian.

She had been told by the doctor to walk once the stitches came out, so she took a walk to see Lurlene Leary, a member of the same church that Mom attended. She said when she got to the house a young man was there getting ready to go out, and she thought he had the prettiest blue eyes. The young man, my Dad, was the Leary's cousin and was staying with them. He was recently home from the CCC and was working nights at a nearby laundry. Mom visited with Lurlene then walked home.

At church the following Sunday, Lurlene told Mom that Owen had asked her to ask if he could take her out on a date. Mom said yes. Nine monyths later, in December of 1941, they were married.

*They remained married until my father's death in 1981. In my mother's heart, they still are.

In San Diego, CA, a homeowner thought she heard someone in the backyard and went to look. She bumped into a deputy looking for a prowler and got shot for her trouble.
The deputy reportedly told her, “I’m sorry, you startled me,” Morgan said.

The Silly Season

I probably didn't look at more than ten minutes of either the GOP or Democrat conventions. The only speech I listened to was Clint Eastwood's and that was on YouTube after the fact. Hollywood Liberals are such...

I mostly only go to genre films at the theater and for that reason as much as I like Clint Eastwood I usually wait for the DVD to be released. I think I'll go shell out nine bucks and see Trouble With the Curve when its released. Mr. Eastwood had the courage to stand up at the GOP convention and speak the truth as he saw it. The Hollywood mainstream seems intent on interpreting his speech with such terms as "bizarre, broadcast-for-the-masses moments" or "his divisive speech" or "fallout and embarrassment from what he did is probably punishment enough" and in doing so say much more about themselves than Mr. Eastwood. I really don't think Mr. Eastwood has a thing to worry about but I'll give him my support. I'll be nice to see Clint on the big screen for a change. The movie is scheduled for release on September 21st.

A .22 will do the job.

In Verona, Kentucky, a 92 year old WWII vet was awakened by someone kicking in the door to his basement. He'd previously been the victim of burglary and theft from his farm. He got up, grabbed his .22 "squirrel gun", and sat down in a chair to await who might come up the basement stairs. When the burglar reached to the top of the stairs the old vet shot him. The burglar later died of his wounds. Mr. Jones is lucky he lives in Kentucky. In [formerly] Great Britain he'd be facing murder charges.

Thumb to nose, wiggle fingers

The draft language of the Democrats' 2012 platform — set for a final vote this week in Charlotte, N.C. — argues that current safeguards protecting the public against gun violence are insufficient and urges "an honest and open conversation about firearms."

The document also calls for "reasonable regulation" governing guns, including laws banning assault weapons and requiring all gun sellers — not just licensed dealers — to perform background checks on potential buyers.

That would require that gun control advocates be honest and open. You aren't, so no.

Walter Simonson has written and drawn among other titles runs of Fantastic Four and Thor. Manhunter was the story of an adventurer killed in Africa then revived and cloned by a secret conspiracy to assist them in there attempt to control the world.
