GRNC Counter-Protest in Raliegh...

...against Bloomberg's Demanding Moms. They're trying to kill HB562 and lying their asses off to do it. If at all possible be there. Lets help Bloomberg piss away more money to no avail.

Every time I hear Ride of the Valkyries I think of a bit I saw Robin Williams do of Elmer Fudd in Ride of the Valkyries. I have looked for it far and wide on the internetz to no avail. The best I can come up with is what was, more likely than not, the inspiration, and it's pretty damn good.

I just finished I, Ripper by Stephen Hunter. It has a couple of surprises at the end I wouldn't want to ruin for you, but it's an enjoyable book. Also read short stories by Vernor Vinge, Cookie Monster, and Sarah Hoyt, The Big Ship and the Wise Old Owl. Both are definitely worth reading.

Also Josh, there isn't a gun control law that was ever passed truly intended to keep guns from the hands of criminals unless you define criminal as law abiding citizen.

H.R. 2546: To prohibit the sale of a firearm to, and the purchase of a firearm by, a person who is not covered by appropriate liability

After three years Stan Sakai has resumed the regular continuity of Usagi Yojimbo. If you like comics it is one of the best out there. If you like samurai comics it is the best there is.

You're not actually being pro police...

...when you lie to push your agenda...
'War on police': Line-of-duty deaths rise amid racially-charged rhetoric, anti-cop climate
...and yes it is a lie when you make statements that ignore pesky facts.
Any officers death is a tragedy. But a heart attack, a vehicular accident, or being mauled by a vicious animal are risks of life, not risks of the trade.

Speaking of risks of the trade; as you can see, as of12:30 CDT, 22 May, 2015, there were 12 officers killed by gunfire, one run down by a criminal, and one beaten to death. That is a total of 14 sworn Law enforcement officers killed so far in 2015. That is just under thirty percent of the total.

That is also 20 percent less than the total of officers murdered as of May 22, 2014. Which was less 21 percent less than the number murdered as of 22 May, 2012.

In the long term, the risk an officer faces of being murdered on the job is half of what it was in 1993 – when there were at least 172 million fewer guns in American’s hands.

It is sad that FOX has chosen to promulgate a lie; a lie spread to promote gun bans; when two minutes research would have demonstrated the falsity of the far left agitprop.

It's bad enough when the Bloombergians lie there asses off. It's worse when your so called "fair and balanced" friends jump on the prohibitionist band wagon.

Why I'll never buy another GM product.

GM’s claim is all about copyright and software code, and it’s the same claim John Deere is making about their tractors. The TL;DR version of the argument goes something like this:

Cars work because software tells all the parts how to operate
The software that tells all the parts to operate is customized code
That code is subject to copyright
GM owns the copyright on that code and that software
A modern car cannot run without that software; it is integral to all systems
Therefore, the purchase or use of that car is a licensing agreement
And since it is subject to a licensing agreement, GM is the owner and can allow/disallow certain uses or access.

I'm sure the other manufacturers are looking at this to see what the fallout is. There really needs to be negative fallout that puts GM out of business. What gun owners did to Smith & Wesson, car owners need to do to GM.

Straits of Hell: Destroyermen by Taylor Anderson is the tenth in the series. It's good but not quite up there with the others. The action is fine but it lacks the character development area. This is understood for the main characters. We know them all ready, but the new guys not so much. Still, recommended.

Liberator Pistol

This is the back cover G. I. Combat 230. The art is by Sam Glanzman with text by Bill Bolt.

The title of the feature is All About Small Arms Combat Album. What a difference 30 plus years make 'cuz for some reason I just don't think we'd see Marvel or DC running this feature today.

Gun control groups: Texas biker gang shooting a wake-up call
This only shows that Shannon Watts and her followers are too stupid to breathe without Bloomberg reminding them to inhale. Background checks would have prevented members of these outlaw bikers gangs who are up to there necks in the drug trade from getting firearms. Seriously?

H/T to Borepatch and Claire.

A win in Wrenn v. D.C.

A Judge in the DC District Court kicked out DC's "good reason"/"proper reason requirement for issuance of a handgun permit. The problem with a "good reason" requirement is that for the prohibitionists there is never a good reason.

New under Comics on the sidebar...

I remember buying this comic years ago when it was published by Dark Horse and enjoying it. Now Randall has put the original stories online and is producing new material as well. This is a good thing. Stories are about a female bounty hunter in the future.

Negligent discharges were around before there were Glocks and we'll continue to have them with whatever comes next.

Dems want to ban online sales of ammunition.

Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.) has introduced the Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2015. The bill unveiled Tuesday would require federally licensed ammunitions dealers to confirm the identity of individuals who arrange to purchase ammunition over the Internet by verifying a photo ID in-person.
Unmentioned in the story is the unfair burden it would place on gun owners who don't have a gun store nearby or who use odd calibers of ammunition not available at their local shop. It making life difficult for gun owners by adding to the bureaucratic bullshit we have to go through to exercise a Constitutional right.

With Republican majorities in the House and Senate this should be dead on arrival but go ahead and call your representatives in the House and Senate to let them know where you stand on this. They need to be reminded periodically who put 'em in office.

I finished Ross Poldark by Winston Graham and will be reading more by this author. Lui's Three Body Problem wasn't next and I'm not sure when I'll get to it. I picked up new books by Conroy, Weber, and Anderson. I started with Robert Conroy's 1882: Custer in Chains. It wasn't his best and seemed to drag on and on. I'll say it was OK. If you like Conroy, you will like this novel. If it is your first exposure to his stuff you probably should pick up another first. I also heard Conroy passed away recently. Damn shame. I really do like his books.

Doesn't surprise me at all.

The FBI knew one of the gunmen in Sunday’s attack in Texas could be targeting the controversial Mohammad cartoon contest, anti-Islam conference… And they knew it hours before the attack occurred. That comes straight from the FBI director who just moments ago held a closed door meeting with reporters. The FBI put out a bulletin with suspect’s picture before the attack. He said it’s not clear if police in Garland, Texas knew about that bulletin.
Issued a bulletin? What I want to know is whether anyone picked up a phone and made a call to local law enforcement. Oh well, it's not like it mattered. Geller's crew had matters well in hand.

That's impressive.

Two bad guys tried to rob a Smoke Shop in Georgia. One held a shotgun to an employees' head. The employee turned, grabbed the shotgun, then pulled his gun and fired several rounds into one bad guy killing him. The other fled but was later picked up by police. Good work.
