Eight hundred dollars for a brake job: new rotors, pads, and a caliper. Then the pulley seized on the A/C compressor. That was another eight hundred dollars and doesn't include another two hundred for the rental car. All this over a three week period. THAT'S how I spent my Christmas.

So I dragged and dropped and that seemed to work...

... but that still a pain in the ass. UPDATE: And now it's working fine.

Blogger will not allow me to post an image from my laptop.

It insists I log in to get the image from Google storage which I don't use. Then when I sign in I'm told the service isn't available. Argggggggg!

Rationalizing the stupid.

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton said Monday that blocking Syrian refugees from entering the United States would impair the ability of police officers to connect with the Muslim community.

Clinton, who wants to import thousands of Syrian refugees, told reporters in Reno that it would look bad not to let in Syrian refugees, and that might inflame Muslims against law enforcement.

“If you’re in law enforcement, … you want the people in the communities that you are looking to get information from to feel like they want to help you,” Clinton said at a Nevada roundtable. “And if the message from people who are running for president, for example, is that we don’t want to take any Muslims whatsoever, that’s not good for law enforcement.”

“Let’s not be casting this broad, negative rejection of everybody who might be Muslim. That is not smart to protect ourselves. And I want people to understand — that is a law enforcement issue,” Clinton added.

In what universe does that make any sense? Maybe she is saying if we don't let the Syrians in we'll piss off Muslims and that will put the lives of Law Enforcement at risk? So they are at risk whatever we do. Pissing off radical Muslims is a daily occurrence, and we shouldn't bend over for fear of any specific group. The status quo is preferable to increasing the risk by inviting ISIS in hidden among the refugees.

Allow a NICS check when purchasing a pistol from a federally licensed firearm dealer in lieu of a pistol purchase permit or a concealed carry permit.

Why keep the permit system intact when your proposed change in the proposed statute allows purchase of a handgun without a permit as long as you undergo a NICS check? It makes no damn sense. Maybe I'm slow. It wouldn't be the first time I missed the point. Somebody please explain it to me. Oh wait...it still applies to private sales? Yeah, right.

Yesterday afternoon I went into the house's crawlspace in search of a leak and found a pinhole in a copper pipe. No problem to fix. Well, it shouldn't have been. By the time I finished today around two o'clock I'd repaired the pipe, the well tank's pressure gauge, the water filter, and replaced the hot water heater. Even after all that and the time involved, I'm still glad I didn't call a plumber. Time I got plenty of. Money I don't.

In Alabama, a five year old girl was forced by her school officials to sign a no violence/no suicide contract for drawing a picture of a gun then pointing a crayon at another student and making gun sounds. The school officials don't need to be worried bout homicidal five year olds. Homicidal parents are another matter.

Deaf boy's name violates weapons policy: School

In Nebraska, a three year old preschool boy who is deaf uses sign language to spell his name. The first letter of his name extends his thumbs and index fingers in a gun shape. The local school board says the sign for the letter "H" violates their zero tolerance weapons policy. Their solution? They told the boy's parents to change his name. I hope the parents gave them a rousing screw you and my attorney will be in touch. Policies such as this are what bureaucrats do instead of think. The ridicule they're going to get over this one is well earned and hopefully will remain come re-election time.

On Demand

Sometimes I get off work in the morning and decide to watch one of the shows I follow On TWC's On Demand. Usually about two thirds into it, I fall asleep. If I'm lucky The show is on CBS and I can fast forward to where I konked out. If not I have to watch the whole damn thing again because God forbid I be able to fast forward through the commercials. I understand this isn't Time Warner's fault[surprise!]. ABC, FOX, and NBC get the blame. Ya know guys, I don't really need to watch your shows to entertain myself and the more difficult you make it for me to enjoy your shows the less likely I am to care what happens to Castle and what's her name. That means I won't buy the fucking DVDs either you gits.
