Blondie Needs Help. [Bumped Again]
So my granddaughters dog, Blondie, got a gash on her neck that required emergency surgery to the tune of about $900. This has put a considerable strain on my daughter's finances. I'm not one to bleg, but if you have a few dollars to spare. Any help is appreciated. My daughter set up a Go Fund Me account at this link: https://de.gofund.me/kc4pr6ws.UPDATE: She been back to the vet. The wound is healing fine. You guys have been more than generous. Thanks and any help is appreciated.

Bad guys pistol whip a home owner...
...only to meet the business end of the family dog. Even after being shot twice Legend continued to defend his master until the home invaders fled. Legend will recover from his wounds. Good Dog.
H/T to Claire.

Seriously?
In Missouri, a Deputy entered a house to do a consent search after an arrest. There were three dogs in the house and one growled and nipped at the Deputy. She thought he had bit her and shot the dog. She went outside realized she was uninjured and re-entered the building. The dog was still aggressive and she shot it two more times killing it. The dog was a Chihuahua. A FREAKING Chihuahua, and it took the Deputy three shots! THREE SHOTS! The Deputy is now unemployed for shooting the dog not bad marksmanship.
That reminds me of a story.
A Police Officer I knew many years back was on his way to work one day and saw an injured rabbit on the side of the road. He stopped and put it out of it's misery using his service revolver. When he arrived at work he asked the Chief and Lead Firearms Instructor for rounds to replace the ones he had fired. The Chief wrote him up for using his weapon to kill rabbit. What really pissed the Chief off was that he had missed the first shot and had to take a second.
And the gun prohibitionists tell us the police are the only ones qualified to carry a firearm.
H/T to Radley.

These guys need a home
We found these cute guys wandering around where I work on their own. The Wake County Animal Shelter has them now. If you are local to Raleigh, North Carolina and looking for a pup that's gonna grow up into a big fricking dog, go check 'em out. Their ID numbers are 49004 and 49005.

Update: Looks like they were adopted.

Buddy the Pit Bull
I saw this and thought of the time I had a pit bull for a roommate. He was found roaming with no tags, and it was take him home or let animal control off him. At the time Durham County wouldn't adopt out pit bulls. I had him for about four months before I by pure chance found his owner. Anyway, I lived in an apartment at the time and would have to leave him there alone while I was at work. I came home one morning to find some of my hardcovers chewed up including a couple of signed and numbered editions. I stared at him over the front sight for about a minute before I holstered and found a newspaper to beat his ass. Wasn't his fault after all. I should have found a sitter. I also blocked the books on the bottom shelf so he wouldn't look there for a chew toy again. By the way, he stared at the .45 and then ran like hell when he saw the newspaper.
