So you support background checks?

“We’re not trying to stop background checks,” Gottlieb said. “We’re taking action against a poorly-written and unconstitutionally vague measure that criminalizes activities that are perfectly legal anywhere else in the country, thus striking at the very heart of a constitutionally-protected, fundamental civil right.”
Not good. Mr. Gottlieb, how 'bout you guys stick to litigation.

"The cartridge did not properly load into the rifle's chamber, but instead, lodged sideways in the ejection port with enough force that the bullet was discharged. When a full cartridge or spent casing gets lodged in the ejection port, it is commonly referred to as a stovepipe," the statement said.

A job well done.

In North Carolina, an attempt at home invasion went bad when a 14 year old shot one of two house breakers to death as he attempted to force his way into the house through a rear window. The 14 year old was staying with his grandmother when he heard the stupid gits trying to break in. He got his grandfather's pistol, gave fair warning, then fired three times. The second subject was taken into custody by the police.

I am sorry the 14 year old had to take a life, but it was work well done.

Fortunately, she had a back-up plan

So, in Indiana this guy violated a protective order. The possessor of said order ventilated him with a handgun. He didn't die. Better luck next time.

About what you'd expect.

ASLGVP boasts having 200 members from all 50 states but the group will not release a list of their membership, due to a fear of “political backlash.” So, outside of the eight members that participated in the inaugural press conference, no one knows who is or is not a member of this group. We are not witnessing a “Profiles in Courage” moment here.
So basically they're afraid their constituents will discover they joined an pro gun control group and kick 'em to the curb.

Key issues report and Giuliani endorsement add to gun owner concerns with Lynch

As for actions on guns, determining Lynch’s sympathies is indirect, but nonetheless not too hard to divine. She supported anti-gun Hillary Clinton, and then anti-gun Obama in their bids for political power. Earlier, she had supported David Dinkins for Mayor of New York, helping enable his lookalike “assault weapon” ban. And speaking of former Big Apple mayors, Rudy Giuliani, naturally described by “progressive” publications as a “staunch Republican,” gives her a thumbs-up.
Nothing surprising here. Obama isn't going to nominate anyone any different than Eric Holder. That in itself should give gun owners reason enough to oppose her nomination. People are also known by the company you keep. The company Lynch keeps place her the likes of prohibitionists like Obama and Holder. That's reason enough to oppose her nomination.

The likelihood of the establishment GOP providing any real opposition is little to none. Just saying...

No Bias Here

Media covering up Bloomberg hand behind Nevada background check group
Nevadans for Background Checks is a front group for Everytown which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Michael Bloomberg. They are not grassroots. They are astroturf but the media outlets either ignore it or bury in the story hoping people won't notice. Lies by omission are still lies.

More Prohibitionist Bulls*#t

Director Jessica Solce's new documentary, No Control, premieres November 15 and carries a clear message: "There [are] limits to every right... articulated in the Constitution," and gun rights should be no exception.
I believe the Supreme Court placed the limit on our right to free speech at the equivalent to yelling fire in a crowded theater. So it would seem to me that any limits on my Second Amendment rights should be the equivalent. Right? Say I can't take another human life except in defense of my life or that of another. Outside of that limitation I should be able to do what I damn well please with my property as long as my actions don't harm another or their property. Right?

Instead I have to undergo a background check [a NICS check at the very least] to purchase a firearm. There are limits on the types of firearms I can own. There are limits on who can purchase a firearm. There are limits on where I can carry a firearm. There are multiple intrusions on my Second Amendment rights at the local, State, and National level. Those intrusions are called limitations Ms. Solce. The fact is the shear number of regulations and limitations on a my right to bear arms would send a you and other Leftists into a screaming shit fit if that same level of regulation was placed on the rights you hold precious.

Gun rights already have an insane level of regulation on them but that is not enough for you and other prohibitionists because limitation isn't your goal. Abolition is.

A win, of sorts.

The Ninth Circuit and the right to carry guns: Good-bye Peruta, hello Richards and Baker
The title pretty much says it all. The Court told Cali AG Harris and the Brady Bunch they couldn't intervene in order to petition for a rehearing on the case. That's good, but a couple of other cases are in the queue dealing with the same issues. This is the Ninth Circuit. God only knows the outcome. Nobody else does/

Oh Really!

"The Second Amendment Was For When The British Were Coming"
So DC has this new concealed carry law that makes it impossible to actually get a permit. The need for 18 hours of training that doesn't yet exist is, I'm sure, only one of the many roadblocks that exist in the law. The biggest is that it's "may issue" and I can't see the DC Police Chief giving anyone the OK unless forced to.

Another law suit is in order and it sounds like Alan Gura already has it in the works.

It's kinda funny sometimes how quickly the tables turn.

So much for the claim that “Nine out of 10 Americans support [expanded] background checks”

With what may turn out to be a 50-to-1 spending advantage ($9.5 million to what appears to be a couple hundred thousand ($1.7 million was spent on another gun initiative)), the initiative passed with just less than 60 percent of the vote. What this vote implies is that even under ideal circumstances with a massive campaign spending advantage and picking a liberal state where they thought that they would do well, slightly less than 60 percent of the voters supported the initiative.
Unfortunately, all they need is 51% to get their money's worth.

A suggestion for the Stupid Party

If voters really wanted people who would work closely with Obama and other Democrats to “get things done,” they would have just voted for more Democrats.

So Karl, you've been doing your damnedest to depth charge conservative, non-establishment, Tea Partyish candidates, and your best has been pretty damned successful. Now your establishment GOP candidates aren't getting the donations they need to compete against the better funded Democrats, and you want our help. Right?

[crickets]

It's what they do.

Lie.
Anti-Gun Brady Campaign Caught In Fundraising Scandal
Who'd a thought the Brady Bunch would lie for donations. It's not desperation. They were doing this $#!+ when they were actually relevant to the debate.

Bill Whittle: Bush Lite

Friday, September 19, 2014

The truth is not in them.

David Chipman, a spokesman for Mayors Against Illegal Guns which lobbies for an expansion of background checks for people buying guns, said the PGF "is not your grandfather's hunting rifle used for sport and recreation this is a weapon designed to kill with precision."

"This technology potentially enables any two bit criminal to operate with the skills of a highly trained sniper," Chipman said.

If they can come up with the $22,500 to buy it you twit, and once again we come to that unpleasant fact you guys refuse to acknowledge. Ya know, that long guns are rarely used in crimes. A rifle is not the weapon of choice for most criminals unless by criminal you mean gun owner.

Oh, and then there's this gem.

"I'm very much in favor of the password protection, but if the user opts not to utilize password protection this product gives shooters a better accuracy than, on average, most cops," Fineman said. He said the target accuracy of most police is three out of ten.

"To think that private citizens that are not trained could shoot better than 3 out of 10, it's scary," Fineman said.

Wait. You mean it doesn't scare you that police only hit the target three out of ten times?

Here's what scares me. A chief executive of a pro-gun control organization pulls a statistic out of his ass and the journalist doesn't even question it.

Then I guess it must be so...

...because a Bloomberg/EveryMoms study says it is...
Study: Online gun sales open market to buyers who would fail a background check
...and they're above reproach. Riiiiight.

Blood Dancing

Long guns kill half of all law enforcement officers in Pa
This time it's in the blood of two murdered PA Troopers. Then there the usual lies and misinformation. Classy bunch ain't they?

Sunday, September 14, 2014

Yep.

Ah!

The case of the mystery virus

That had to have hurt.

Telling the truth, that is, but don't count on it to last. The prohibitionist mantra is now "universal background checks".

Yes...

Is Eric Holder Trying to Protect the IRS?
...but only because the trail leads straight to the Oval Office. If not for that Lois Lerner et al would already under the wheels on the bus.

But I'm supposed to leave my gun at home?

Shots Fired During Panera Restaurant robbery
Again, the hell you say.

Yeah I know, the store was closed and the store was robbed while the manager was accepting a shipment. It still goes to show bad guys don't pay any attention to Everymoms' wish for a gun free world, and they never will.

Buying Elections

“We have had in this country a flood of very, very dark money coming into this nation’s political system,” Reid said on the Senate floor. “Radical billionaires are attempting to buy our democracy.”
Yeah Harry, but the Koch Brothers aren't the billionaires we need to be worried about.

H/T to John.

That's actually pretty damn funny.

Harry Reid is mad that Republicans didn't obstruct his bill
The bill has no hope in hell of getting the 2/3's majority it needs to pass but by advancing it to the Senate floor for debate it mucks up Democrat campaign strategy. Harry's now hopping mad. That's a win by any definition.

He will never live this down.

Think Carter and you get banzai rabbit. Think Obama you get the Ninth Hole. Choosing golf over foreign policy will follow Obama to his grave.

A Virtual School Bans Guns

Seriously.

A student sent an email to an instructor using an avatar with a firearm on it. The instructor told him it was a violation of a yet to be written policy.

Ah, the joys of educational fuckwittery.

Bill Whittle: President Coward

It's what the the prohibitionists do.

Lie.

The funny thing is they do it so badly it's blatantly obvious to anyone with an IQ greater than a cucumber or a politician.

Case in point.

Whatever

So Kroger essentially told the Demanding Moms to pound sand when they demanded they change their policy on carry in Kroger stores. The response of the wholly owned subsidiary of Bloomberg was $1,000,000 in print ads against the chain.
The group, a campaign of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, is running print and digital “homepage takeover” ads in half-a-dozen newspapers criticizing the gun policy at grocery retail chain the Kroger Co.
Newspapers huh? That's money well spent. Who reads 'em anymore? If they were buying time on the air I might actually be worried.

I've a new addiction.

As you might have noticed, I like comic books and strips. I also like the original art from same. Most are out of my price range but I've picked up a few here and there recently. Most of these images were from the sellers so the quality varies.

Sunday Afternoon at the Range

I have a Nikon FM I've had since about 1980. I like old fashioned film but now thirty some years later I finally ungraded to a Nikon D3100. I still like film but I gotta admit digital is very convenient. I took it to the range yesterday to play. It's going to take me a little while to get the hang of it but out of about 65 pictures I found a few that I liked.
