This version was sung by Jim Reeves. I had this on an 8-track too many years ago to count. Then tracked it down on vinyl. I've never been able to find it on CD. I'd heard it before I read Robert A. Heinlein's Starship Troopers for the first time. This was the recall music for the corvette Roger Young. The lyrics are here.
