Bill Whittle: Story Time with Uncle Bill

A win for the good guys

McAuliffe can spin it however he wants. We got near universal reciprocity. He got not much but face saving modifications to Virginia gun law. Bloomberg hates it. That makes it a win for us.

Bolg, PI: The Vampire Bride by Dave Freer

I haven't read anything by Dave Freer I haven't liked. This came close to it. Supposed to be funny but barely by my reckoning. I bought all the Bolg titles at once so maybe this was the outlyer. We'll see.

Yeah, but the odds of a former Democrat First Lady...

...actually having to pay the piper is near zero under this Administration*.

Interesting...

Should We Elect An American President?
Which means both Rubio and Cruz are ineligible leaving the GOP nomination firmly in the hands of Trump. And then there's the last two elections...

Risen

A Roman Tribune is tasked with finding the missing body of a crucified Jewish radical before all hell breaks loose in Jerusalem. It doesn't turn out the way he expects. It wasn't what I expected either, and I liked it very much. I like Kevin Reynolds, the director. His movies have an old fashioned feel to them I enjoy. Too bad he makes so few.

Surprise: Obama vetting GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval for Scalia’s Supreme Court seat
Naw, can't be. The Prez has got to be f**king with us, or he has the same kinda s**t on this guy as he has on Roberts. I'd be fine with this guy based on this if he would answer two questions in regard to gun rights and the Constitution.

Strict Scrutiny and Originalism?

That's my red line for an Obama nominee.

Infernal Night: Michael Quinn Vs. Repairman Jack by Heather Graham and F. Paul Wilson

It's OK. At 38 pages there really isn't a whole lot of time for much to happen. If you are not already familiar with the characters it's just short of huh?. Having said that, if you are a fan of either of the leads, it is worth the 99 cents. If not, take a pass.

Clinton Says She's Never Lied

You know what would be funny?

Donald Trump using his billions to sue the SPLC into oblivion for defamation. He wouldn't have to win. Just drive them to bankruptcy via lawfare.
The Southern Poverty Law Center Strikes Again
I don't like Trump and will vote 3rd Party before he gets my vote, but that lawsuit would be money well spent and funny as hell.

No longer a Mystery by Laura Montgomery

A short story that really needed to be longer. Well written but not much happens. I will probably buy another by Ms. Montgomery but this one was just kinda eh.

Gatefather by Orson Scott Card

I liked the first two books in this trilogy quite a bit. This was n't up to the others. It wrapped up the trilogy but it was slow and well, boring. maybe my expectations were too high.

Interesting Times

Antonin Scalia, conservative US Supreme Court justice, dies
Obama has said he'll nominate a replacement. McConnell has said any nomination is dead in the water until after the election and Obama is history. The question is whether McConnell and the Senate Republicans will blink. History says yes. One thing is sure. An Obama appointment is the death of the Second Amendment. Call your Senators and stiffen their spines.

Yeah, but the Establishment Republicans would join with the Deomcrats to block the nomination.

They hate Cruz more than Obama and the Socialist Left.
If Donald Trump wants to end this race tonight, he'll vow that his first act as president will be appointing Ted Cruz to the Supreme Court. - Sean Davis

From the seller: "This is the original artwork to page 25 of the Batman Masque Elseworlds Graphic Novel by Mike Grell. For this project, Grell did pencils on sheets of 8½ x 11 inch paper. He then taped a transparency over the pencils. He did the final inks on the transparency. So the original art from this book is roughly at a 1/1 ratio rather than on much larger art like usual. I asked Mike why he did this & he told me that he had just gotten new glasses & everything looked huge to him, so he drew small. The actual image area is about 5 x 8 inches. Both the pencils & the inks are included." - artworkworld.com.

Gentleman Jole and Red Queen by Lois McMaster Bujold

The latest in the Vorkosigan Saga. Some Miles but this is about his mother Cordelia and her getting on with her life after the death of her husband. It's comforting to know these characters you've followed for so long find happiness after the loss of a loved one. It's Bujold therefore it's good. Highly recommended.

Fear City by F. Paul Wilson

For some reason I missed this when it was released in 2014. The third and last of F. Paul Wilson's Repairman Jack's early years trilogy and probably the last for some time. If that is so, this is a fine end to the series. It's a straight thriller. The supernatural doesn't enter into it. We see how Jack developed into the man he is. He also meets James Bond. Wilson doesn't call him that but that's who he is. It is a run ride, and it is my hope that Wilson will climb back on and give us another sometime soon.
