“We’re not trying to stop background checks,” Gottlieb said. “We’re taking action against a poorly-written and unconstitutionally vague measure that criminalizes activities that are perfectly legal anywhere else in the country, thus striking at the very heart of a constitutionally-protected, fundamental civil right.”Not good. Mr. Gottlieb, how 'bout you guys stick to litigation.

Teen wounded in accidental shooting at gun rangeI'd really like to see the final report on this one.
"The cartridge did not properly load into the rifle's chamber, but instead, lodged sideways in the ejection port with enough force that the bullet was discharged. When a full cartridge or spent casing gets lodged in the ejection port, it is commonly referred to as a stovepipe," the statement said.

Hours after the 40-year-old mother had obtained the order on Monday, the man she'd feared the most - Stephen Rozniakowski, an enraged Delaware County cop with a history of harassment - grabbed a gun, strapped on a bulletproof vest, kicked down the door to her Glenolden home, ran up the stairs and shot her, authorities said.Shot her dead and wounded her daughter. Her husband, a part-time cop, was able to get to his weapon, return fire and critically wound the shooter.
Protective orders protect no one. They make a piss poor bullet proof vest.

ASLGVP boasts having 200 members from all 50 states but the group will not release a list of their membership, due to a fear of “political backlash.” So, outside of the eight members that participated in the inaugural press conference, no one knows who is or is not a member of this group. We are not witnessing a “Profiles in Courage” moment here.So basically they're afraid their constituents will discover they joined an pro gun control group and kick 'em to the curb.

CROmnibus: The $1 Trillion BetrayalApparently, it wasn't just the Democrats that misread the last election's results.
Flush from an unprecedented nationwide GOP victory in this November’s elections, House and Senate GOP leadership determined that their essential first course of action should be to snatch defeat from its jaws. They have brought forth a spending bill for 2015 that gives President Obama almost everything he wants, while disenfranchising the very voters who delivered the GOP victory.
Court documents say both men were at a party when Saye suggested trying Russian roulette after a game of beer pong. Authorities said Saye put a handgun, loaded with five rounds, to White’s head and pulled the trigger, killing him. Court documents say other party-goers warned Saye that a semi-automatic pistol would not work for the game.Definitely from the shallow end of the gene pool.

As for actions on guns, determining Lynch’s sympathies is indirect, but nonetheless not too hard to divine. She supported anti-gun Hillary Clinton, and then anti-gun Obama in their bids for political power. Earlier, she had supported David Dinkins for Mayor of New York, helping enable his lookalike “assault weapon” ban. And speaking of former Big Apple mayors, Rudy Giuliani, naturally described by “progressive” publications as a “staunch Republican,” gives her a thumbs-up.Nothing surprising here. Obama isn't going to nominate anyone any different than Eric Holder. That in itself should give gun owners reason enough to oppose her nomination. People are also known by the company you keep. The company Lynch keeps place her the likes of prohibitionists like Obama and Holder. That's reason enough to oppose her nomination.
The likelihood of the establishment GOP providing any real opposition is little to none. Just saying...
This is what I do know. They won't do squat if you if gun owners don't let you Senators know where you stand. The same is true of the NRA. you sit this one out and gun owners lose. So, write, email, call your representatives. Call, email, write the NRA leadership. Let 'em know how you feel.

Director Jessica Solce's new documentary, No Control, premieres November 15 and carries a clear message: "There [are] limits to every right... articulated in the Constitution," and gun rights should be no exception.I believe the Supreme Court placed the limit on our right to free speech at the equivalent to yelling fire in a crowded theater. So it would seem to me that any limits on my Second Amendment rights should be the equivalent. Right? Say I can't take another human life except in defense of my life or that of another. Outside of that limitation I should be able to do what I damn well please with my property as long as my actions don't harm another or their property. Right?
Instead I have to undergo a background check [a NICS check at the very least] to purchase a firearm. There are limits on the types of firearms I can own. There are limits on who can purchase a firearm. There are limits on where I can carry a firearm. There are multiple intrusions on my Second Amendment rights at the local, State, and National level. Those intrusions are called limitations Ms. Solce. The fact is the shear number of regulations and limitations on a my right to bear arms would send a you and other Leftists into a screaming shit fit if that same level of regulation was placed on the rights you hold precious.
Gun rights already have an insane level of regulation on them but that is not enough for you and other prohibitionists because limitation isn't your goal. Abolition is.

If Lynch does get the nod, it’s incumbent upon activist gun owners to demand getting some specific answers, and not to be put off by weasel words and “I believe in the Second Amendment” equivocation – hell, even Barack Obama says that, right before showing everyone his big “but.” If we can’t get assurances, the only acceptable course for the Senate to take is to reject her, and for that to happen, we can’t stand still for NRA to cheese out on us like they did with Holder. If Lynch turns out to be just another apparatchik, gun owners must demand, as they have with other nominees like Sotomayor, Kagan and Murthy, that not just the confirmation vote, but also the vote to bring it out of committee and onto the floor, be scored. And this time, the impact actually ought to mean more than a measly half-grade reduction.

With what may turn out to be a 50-to-1 spending advantage ($9.5 million to what appears to be a couple hundred thousand ($1.7 million was spent on another gun initiative)), the initiative passed with just less than 60 percent of the vote. What this vote implies is that even under ideal circumstances with a massive campaign spending advantage and picking a liberal state where they thought that they would do well, slightly less than 60 percent of the voters supported the initiative.Unfortunately, all they need is 51% to get their money's worth.
Like I said...bullshit.

Looks like the margin of fraud will keep Malloy and Hickenlooper in office. The Billionaires won in Washington State, but we already knew that money can buy elections as long as it's enough money. I'm sure Bloomberg learned a lot from his fellows in Washington State. My question is how much of their money are they willing to part with. At least anti-gun Brown was kicked to the curb in Maryland of all places.
Republicans took the Senate. This is a mixed blessing at best. They'll screw us in a heartbeat the moment they think they don't need us any more. Wait, let me rephrase that..."the moment they don't fear us any more." Remember these are establishment Republicans. They suffer from the "I know better than you do" delusion of their Democrat Progressive brethren.
I worry the question isn't whether we'll be fucked but when.

While the FBI study discusses “mass shootings or killings,” its graphs were filled with cases that had nothing to do with mass killings. Of the 160 cases it counted, 32 involved a gun being fired without anyone being killed. Another 35 cases involved a single murder.Lies, damn lies, and statistics.
It’s hard to see how the FBI can count these incidents, which make up 42 percent of its 160 cases, as “mass killings.” They plainly don’t fit the FBI’s old definition, which required four or more murders, nor even its new one of at least three murders.

Sources say he was in a classroom for a demonstration of how to break down and clean his service weapon. They say an experienced state police firearms instructor was handling a gun that somehow misfired. There is so much fail hidden in those two sentences, but I sorta suspect it boils down to a rule two violation and testing a recently reassembled weapon with a chambered round.
When you're teaching your students to break 'em down and put them back together maybe the best place for live ammo for both students and instructors is someplace other than the classroom. Just saying...

I awoke around 1:15 am to the sound of the door giving way after one kick followed by the sounds of my stalker struggling to dislodge the chair while forcing his way inside. I jumped up and grabbed the gun I’ve learned to do everything even shower with. She did exactly the right thing. The problem here is that as long as this nut job is breathing he'll be a threat to her. Too bad two rounds to the chest didn't finish him off.
I stood at the top of my stairs and fired twice. Hitting him in the chest, I hear his scream, his disbelief that I’d stood up for myself.. 0 to 100 in milliseconds. I’ve never been so afraid in my life. I do not know if he is living, but I do know the police have him and that’s what helps the most.

Ya know, that long guns are rarely used in crimes. A rifle is not the weapon of choice for most criminals unless by criminal you mean gun owner.

"To think that private citizens that are not trained could shoot better than 3 out of 10, it's scary," Fineman said.
