Not the first. Not the second. Won't be a third

For anyone who finds and keeps the love of their life on the first try, I have nothing but admiration. But remember kids, for at least 50% of us, divorce will be expensive for one reason: because it's worth it. - Aesop
My current wife has informed me for the fifth or sixth, maybe seventh time, that she wants a divorce. Whatever. I'll believe it when the papers are served. I should be so lucky. She can't get more from me than she is already getting, which is pretty much everything.

Tired

I spent nine plus hours at the range today and fired nary a round. More of the same tomorrow. So, I'm just gonna call it a night.

SNAFU

Yesterday afternoon I went into the house's crawlspace in search of a leak and found a pinhole in a copper pipe. No problem to fix. Well, it shouldn't have been. By the time I finished today around two o'clock I'd repaired the pipe, the well tank's pressure gauge, the water filter, and replaced the hot water heater. Even after all that and the time involved, I'm still glad I didn't call a plumber. Time I got plenty of. Money I don't.

My eldest daughter told me about a dream...

She was in the kitchen when she heard someone come into the house through the front door. She picked up a frying pan and hide by the refrigerator. A voice called out "I've got a gun." She responded "...and I've got a frying pan and I know how to use it*".
Then she woke up. She later told me, "Dad I'd have liked to know how that dream ended." I know how it would have ended. I'm getting her a pistol and taking her to the range.

Frying pan my ass.

*She had watched Tangled the night before.

No blogging tomorrow.

We're sending my mama home.

My mom...

...was born in August of 1921. She grew up in North Carolina. Her father was a shop keeper and later a farmer. She met and married my dad around 1941 and worked for Duke University until retirement. Other than her family, her church was the center piece in her life. The last couple of years had been hard on mom with falls and broken bones. She passed away today. The last few years had been hard on mom with falls, broken bones, illness, and the burden of getting old. I know she is with my dad now and doesn't hurt anymore. That is a good thing. She is survived by her three children, ten grandchildren, and eight grandchildren. That's a good legacy, but I have not a clue what I'm going to do without her.

What a difference an hour makes...

...but it could be worse and probably will be.

Next morning. Freezing rain from about midnight on.

Snowing again.

I still have power. Wish I could quit while I was ahead. No more snow pics. I'm done.

Now I'm done.

Son and Younger Daughter helped. The fat shadow is me.

A bit late...

...but I'm thankful for this little bit.

Now if I could get her mom and the semi-ex talking to one another maybe I'd actually get to see her once in a while.

Angels

My car cut off on a back road the other night. Needle said I had gas and I was worried something had gone south. Even so my first assumption is I've run out of gas. There I was on the side of the road. A young lady stopped to help and went to get me gas. I gave her my gas can and five dollars. When she returned and the gas was in the car it still wouldn't start. She went and got me another can of gas and I gave her another five dollars. When she returned she told me she had a cousin with a tow truck she could call. Thankfully, the car started. I thanked her and as I was pulling away she dropped the ten dollars I'd given her into my car. She was gone before I could do anything but thank her. Her name is Jan. She is an angel.

Excuses, Excuses.

I got one hour of sleep Sunday night. I still got up a 7a to run errands, take my son to his English and History classes, and get a few last minute things done before heading out to Wrightsville Beach for an 870 Armorer's Course. I got to work at 3p to pick up a car. The engine overheated before I got two blocks away. It was 5:30p before I was on the road. When I reached my hotel I ate and went to bed. That's why no posts yesterday.

October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month

Dysautonomia SOS

Dysautonomia is an umbrella term for multiple autonomic disorders. My son Noah has currently been diagnosed sevral disorders that fall under that umbrella; Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue & Immune Disorder, and Neurocardiogenic Syncopy. There is still a possibility for Gastroparesis & Elhers-Danos syndrome. Basically, what this means is his autonomic nervous system does not function properly. So anything our bodies are supposed to do 'automatically'; body temperature control, pupils dilation, heart rate and/or blood pressure regulation? None of it works for him, and in addition,, it causes Noah's blood vessels to constrict closed or nearly closed when he stands or changes positions. This causes blood to pool at the bottoms of his arms & in his legs & feet & his heart cannot pump the blood back properly.

So why post? Like the title says, "awareness". Most people have never heard of Dysautonomia and knowledge is a good thing. When we started this journey most of the doctors Noah saw had never even heard of it. It's sad when the patient has to educate the doctor. Also, prayers are always welcome and needed. They help.

Prayers needed.

My youngest daughter, twelve years old, has been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and possibly meningitis. Prayer would be appreciated.

[UPDATE: 8/9/2013] It was not meningitis, but beyond that the doctors couldn't decide whether it was pneumonia or not. What you really find out during episodes of this sort is what doctors don't know. That's a hell of a lot more than they think they know. My baby is at home now on the same meds they were giving her at the hospital. It's for the best. This way the semi ex-wife don't kill nobody. What I am sure of is my baby wouldn't be home without the prayers of friends and family. Thank you all.
