"Poor Man's Assault Rifle."

If you can afford $881 for a Mini-14 you ain't poor. Then again I think I define such terms as poor, rich, fair, and common-sense rather differently than the typical left liberal twits just as I know I define the term "assault rifle" differently than do Josh Sugarman and the twits at the Violence Policy Center. Actually, I wish it were the "poor man's assault rifle". Then I'd be able to afford one.

The Arizona AG gives the...

...verbal equivalent of the finger to Mayor "Mikey" Bloomberg.

Heh.

Now some arrest warrants would be icing on the cake.

Ignorance is bipartisan

Peter King [R - NY] is one of those so called Republicans that never seen a piece of gun control legislation he hasn't liked. He threatening to introduce a bill that will make it illegal to knowingly carry a firearm within one thousand feet of a high profile government official. Normally I wouldn't give this kind of grandstanding a snowball's chance but if Congress critters see this as a matter of their personal safety I'm afraid they choose their ass over their oath every time. The point King misses is that his office should offer him no more protection that anyone else. If he's worried he can get a CCW permit and carry like the rest of us. It's also my hope that local gun owners target his ass in the next election and vote him out of office. How's that for violent rhetoric.

More on the South Korean Garands

Fox News has a story on the South Korean Garands. The Obama Administration is looking for alternatives to bringing them back to the U. S.. Anyone who wants answers as to why importation of a perfectly legal semi-auto is a problem gets ye old bureaucratic runaround.
Asked why the M1s pose a threat, the State Department spokesman referred questions to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. ATF representatives said they would look into the question Monday afternoon, but on Wednesday they referred questions to the Justice Department. DOJ spokesman Dean Boyd referred questions back to the State Department.

Chicago responds

The city is expected to take steps similar to what D.C. enacted after its gun ban was shot down.
Which would be laws that make the process of having a gun so onerous and expensive that only the most hardheaded will bother. None of us really expected "Dick" Daley to roll over and play dead did we?. Time for round three.

H/T to Mike.

Mayor Daley...

...happy now?

Heh.

Thumb to nose, wiggle fingers

Ex-governor Spitzer, we're already making enough shared sacrifice through taxation. When local state and federal governments start cutting unnecessary programs [my definition, not yours] to a degree that it impacts on the deficit spending. It's the people benefiting from government largess that need to sacrifice.

I’m all for stopping terrorists. I’m even...

...ok with stretching the rules a tad to make work easier for the good guys. Under no means do I support drop kicking due process out the window so that gun control supporters like Mikey Bloomberg can use the no fly list to strip people of their Constitutional rights. Bloomberg wants people on the no fly list barred from purchasing firearms. The no fly list is so screwed up no “reasonable” person should even consider using it as a standard for anything even its current purpose. Little kids have been barred from flying because they share a name with someone on the list. Appealing your name on the list is next to impossible. No one even really understands the Feds process for putting someone on the list but we’re supposed use it as a standard for stripping a person of their rights. This is what Bloomberg wants us at the mercy of so he can further his gun control agenda. My right to possess and carry a firearm is a Constitutional, civil, and human right. I won’t give 'em up. Read into that what you will.

A couple of items of interest.

Federal Judge Victoria Roberts ordered the Hutaree militia arrestees released on bail. They've still got to face their day in court, but it feels like the judge spanked the Justice Department. I've no opinion on their guilt or innocence. It does seem to me the prosecutor should be less concerned with holding back info to protect his case than giving the judge what she needed to justify holding them. That is if the prosecutors had a case to begin with. Also the timing of the arrests smelled.

and...

I posted yesterday on Time's Square bomb and Bloomberg's agenda in wanting it to be a lone wolf bomber. Today we get this bit where Mikey says
the bomber was someone who is “mentally deranged” with a “political agenda” that didn’t like the health care bill.
Mikey, you wish. Me, I just wish he, and others, would shut their pie holes until the investigators have done their jobs.

Both thanks to Glenn.

Another zero tolerance success story.

A seventh grade girl in Kentucky was given a tab of Adderall by another student. The girl wanted nothing to do with the drug and gave it back. Granted, she didn't turn her classmate in but the reward for just saying no? The girl was suspended for five days because she touched the drug. Had she turned her classmate in the result would have bee the same because she touched the drug. The school administration you see had no choice because it was their policy. Zero tolerance is what you get when bureaucrats are too cowardly to examine the facts and make an informed decision.

I don't think so.

A license to access the Internet? The Statist's among us and parts of the main stream media think this is a nifty idea. I don't think so. Self-expression, anonymous self-expression, on the Internet or frankly in any other medium is as necessary to our continued freedom as say the right to keep and bear arms. Climategate, the resurgence of the second amendment as an individual right, the tea party movement and god know what else is a result in large part of free access to the Internet. Of course these Statist bastards want control. I don't think so.

A hunting we shall go...

Senator Charles Schumer went hunting with his Senator Ben Nelson. Too bad Dick Cheney didn't join them...

Seriously Charlie, you're not fooling anyone. We all know you're of the guns for me but not for thee school of thought. So what are you trying to pull?
