Representative Mark Hilton will introduce it tomorrow. It's about damn time we got rid of this remnant of Jim Crow. I hope it will become law, but if memory serves me right a similar bill was up a couple of years back and the North Carolina Sheriff's Association killed it. Here's hoping for a different outcome. Start calling your representatives.

Finger off the trigger...
A Florida Highway Patrol Officer shot herself in the thigh during qualification. FHP carries a Glock in .45GAP. The story doesn't say, but I'd bet it was a case of the officer holstering without taking her finger off the trigger. It's something you see quite a bit with the Glock and more and more with the M&P. Rule three vioaltions can be a bitch.
H/T to The Duck.
Update: The FHP Officer did not shoot herself. She was shot by a supervisor during inspection. The rule three violation still applies.

Code Words
Most gun owners know that the word "commonsense" isn't a code word for "confiscation." -- President Barak ObamaExcept Mr. President, in our experience with proponents of gun control, that's exactly what words like common sense and reasonable have always meant. And they took us down a slippery slope that we've only just began to see the top of again. Mr. President, do you sense distrust? Hell yeah. So, no thanks and no compromise.

Apparently, the earthquake off the coast of Japan...

I guess this is the climatological equivalent of a Brady Bunch blood dance.

19 year old charged...

...in the death of a hamster, and it's a felony charge to boot. Killing a rodent is a fricking felony? Oh, and does anyone else have a problem with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals having personnel with powers of arrest?
Just saying.

NC: Restaurant Carry is out of committee...
...and could be on the floor of the House for a vote as early as tomorrow. The antis did their best to stop or gut it with little success. An amendment that would give waiters the option of asking a customer that opened an alcoholic drink if they had a CCW permit was passed. There was a lot of fear mongering and blood in the streets whining from the antis but our friends prevailed. Details here. Call your representatives and tell 'em to support HB 111. It ain't over yet.

'bout time. Maybe some pressure by the NRA will actually shake something loose, or get the House off their collective asses.
