In formerly Great Britain...

...a terminally ill woman reports to the police her life had been threatened and her property damaged. In return the British Police criticize her and seize her shotguns and firearms' permit. During the incident her weapons were properly secured at her residence. This is the sort of fuckwittery I've come to expect from the British police.

In Great Britain...

...a young man defended his home and family with a BB gun when a burglar broke into his house and attempted to steal his motorcycle. He shot the burglar when said burglar attacked him with an iron bar and brick. The burglar reported the matter to the police and ended up being arrested himself. The young man who defended himself was initially afraid he would be arrested and in formerly Great Britain that wouldn’t have surprised me but in this case he wasn’t. That he even had the fear shows just how fucked up things are in the UK but at least some cops in there still recognize legitimate self-defense. Damned surprising.

The UK's tax collection agency is putting forth a proposal that all employers send employee paychecks to the government, after which the government would deduct what it deems as the appropriate tax and pay the employees by bank transfer.

...but this is once Great Britain, so who knows.

Backdoor Gun Control

President Obama knows any attempts to push gun control in the United States is bound to bite him, his party, and his agenda in the ass come election day. That explains why any gun control legislation in Congress is on the back burner. That doesn’t mean he supports the Second Amendment. You only have to look at the Small Arms Treaty moving through the UN and this little tidbit from the CCRKBA.

The appointment of anti-gun rights former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels as an alternate representative to the United Nations has removed any doubt about the Obama administration’s intentions regarding global gun control initiatives, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Fortunately, a treaty requires Senate approval so let your representative know where you stand on this. Do it now.

UK: Never let a crisis go to waste

Great Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, may not be jumping on the “we have to do something now” bandwagon after the murder of 12 people last week but, as expected, others are. That’s pretty much to be expected and I expect the PM’s request for a deliberative rather than knee jerk response is going to fall on deaf ears. When you’re at the near bottom of the slippery slope, it’s hard to climb back up.

Surprising Restraint

Mr. Cameron said the government would do everything it could to “mend the hurt” caused by the shootings. But while laws and practices involved in gun ownership will be reviewed, he said, there is not always “an instant legislative or regulatory answer.”

That doesn't mean they still won't ban their shotguns and bolt action .22s. They'll just do it in a deliberative rather than knee jerk manner. Britain is too far down the slippery slope to reverse direction. Kevin, at TSM, noted that there are no more than 1% of the population with firearm's certificates and the rest have been brainwashed to know better. Too late, but the fact that a British politician, the Prime Minister no less, would even make that statement gives him a bit of credit in my book. Now if he would admit that gun control has caused as many or more problems than its solved I might even vote for him...if I lived in the Brady Paradise.

In the UK a woman noticed two thugs trying to break into her garden shed. She shouted and them and waved a kitchen knife. They fled. She called the cops and was told her actions were illegal. She was in the house with her daughter and wasn’t allowed to defend herself or child.. In the UK you can’t even defend yourself or family in your home or on your property. That’s really wacked. But some in the UK realize how wacked it is and are trying to make changes. Good luck. Once you give up rights it is damn hard to take them back from the powers that be.
