A Roman Tribune is tasked with finding the missing body of a crucified Jewish radical before all hell breaks loose in Jerusalem. It doesn't turn out the way he expects. It wasn't what I expected either, and I liked it very much. I like Kevin Reynolds, the director. His movies have an old fashioned feel to them I enjoy. Too bad he makes so few.

So far, I have viewed the GOP presidential race as a slow-motion train wreck, but after South Carolina I think there are reasons to be optimistic:

1) Conservative candidates took 67.5% of the vote.

2) At some point, conservative Republicans will coalesce behind Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Either, at that point, should be able to defeat the RINO Trump rather easily. The risk, obviously, is that such unification could come too late.

3) As for the last point, it will take 1,237 delegates to win the nomination. So far, Trump has 61.

4) Jeb Bush is out of the race, a happy development. Carson and Kasich may or may not drop out soon–my guess is they won’t–but their voters will start to fall away. It is reasonable to expect that most of those voters will gravitate toward one of the conservative candidates, and my guess is that Rubio will get the largest number.

So, in my opinion, the Sun is shining a little brighter this morning.

I really hope he is right on this.

Obama has said he'll nominate a replacement. McConnell has said any nomination is dead in the water until after the election and Obama is history. The question is whether McConnell and the Senate Republicans will blink. History says yes. One thing is sure. An Obama appointment is the death of the Second Amendment. Fear City by F. Paul Wilson

For some reason I missed this when it was released in 2014. The third and last of F. Paul Wilson's Repairman Jack's early years trilogy and probably the last for some time. If that is so, this is a fine end to the series. It's a straight thriller. The supernatural doesn't enter into it. We see how Jack developed into the man he is. He also meets James Bond. Wilson doesn't call him that but that's who he is. It is a run ride, and it is my hope that Wilson will climb back on and give us another sometime soon.

What I want ot know is...

...does he still have a job?
