Preacher

Preacher, by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, was/is a great comic. Its run ended long ago but it lives on in trade paperbacks [nine volumes] and now in hardcover [first volume was just released]. Preacher was not a comic for the faint of heart and those easily offended. In the comic a young Texan is looking for God so they can have a heart to heart Texas style. Ennis' intent seemed to be to see how far he could go and still have DC distribute the comic. He apparently pushed the envelope but failed to puncture it. DC published the entire run. It bordered on blasphemy. It was definitely sacrilegious, violent, obscene, funny as hell, and it only got better with each issue. As I said it's available. Enjoy.

If you like Preacher you might look up Ennis' Hitman. It's every bit as good as Preacher. Some were collected into trades but I don't know if they're still available.
