So I should give Mayor Bloomberg credit...

...that he wipes his ass with only those parts of the Constitution he doesn't like?

This mosque to be is two blocks from Ground Zero. My question is what's too close? San Francisco? This is a non-issue for me and I'd have more respect for Bloomberg's position if he showed the slightest respect for other portions of the Constitution like say the 2nd amendment.

Mayor Daley's next move

The mayor is expected to demand registration of all handguns, mandatory training for gun owners and a limit of one handgun per person. This last novel idea comes from Corporation Counsel Mara Georges, who according to the Associated Press "says the court ruled people can have a gun for protection, but didn't say they're allowed more than one."

It's not like we expected him to just give up. He and his fellow travelers will pull whatever they can out of their ass to avoid the end consequences of the Second Amendment. Then when they've bankrupted their city and/or are in the grave the people of Chicago just might get to rejoin those of us able to exercise out Second amendment rights.

Hey Rahm!

Does it strike you as the slightest bit hypocritical to criticize BP CEO Tony Hayward for going to a yacht race while the oil spill crisis is ongoing when your own boss takes a break to play golf?

Didn't think so.

I’ve never been a heavy metal fan...

...so the death of Ronnie Dio didn’t impact on my day to day at all. Even so his family deserves to put him to rest without Fred Phelps and his progeny at the Westboro Baptist Church doing their "God Hates" thing outside the funeral because ya know he was a Satanist. This bit kinda sums up my feelings on the WBC.
Indeed, those who spend their lives hating their neighbors, perverting the word of God, and enabling other simpletons truly do deserve to burn in Hell. (Or, you know, at least spend their mortal lives being ruthlessly mocked as the fundamentalist version of Internet trolls they are.)
Reverend Phelps we all die and at that time God knows his own. I suspect that you sir, when your time comes, are gonna be in for a helluva suprise.

I won’t say I wasn’t bothered...

...by Mexican President Calderon’s comments on the White House lawn or to Congress. He was critical of the Arizona immigration law. That’s an internal disagreement between family members and not one bit of the neighbor’s business. He wants Congress to renew the Assault weapons ban because guns are allegedly finding their way south from the US. I’m sorry he’s having the problems he is down south but my rights aren’t subject to the needs of Calderon or his nation’s citizens. I am pissed off that CIC Obama [and the first C don’t stand for Commander in my book] and the Democrats in Congress had the gaul to agree with and applaud Calderon’s comments. Calderon should have been escorted to the border and ordered over with a boot print on his ass. The fact that he wasn’t tells us a lot about Obama’s agenda regarding immigration and our Second Amendment rights.

Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns are...

...running television ads against the gun show loophole that isn’t. The alleged purpose is to get people to call their Senators and ask them to support legislation to close the nonexistent loophole. Bloomberg lives in his own little fantasy in which the 1994 shift in the makeup of the House and Senate to Republican majorities had nothing to do with gun owners’ anger over the passage of the assault weapons ban. The question is whether those current members of the House and Senate currently up for re-election live in the same fantasy.

In any event it can't hurt to call your elected representatives and let them know where you stand on the issue.

Radley Balko's response to Former President Bill Clinton's NYT's Op-Ed.

How not to answer a question

If you ask a person a simple question and in return you get, rather than a simple answer, a 17 minute, 2500 word walk around said question, you can be pretty sure that person has a hign opinion of himself, a low opinion of your intelligence, and is a liar.

Thumb to nose...wiggle fingers

What Americans don’t seem to understand is how crazy they look to most of the rest of the world. The reason they don’t understand is because of their one-thought tyranny.
Mr. Johnson, what you miss about Americans, at least the ones outside of the Democrat Party and academia, is that we don’t care what the rest of the world thinks about our Constitutional rights. So, go piss up a rope.

BTW thanks for the picture accompanying your editorial. That's worth a link.

H/T to Firehand .

Al Gore crawls out of his hole.

From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption.
Al Gore has finally crawled out of his hole to try to pull the global warming fat out of the fire. All he does in the end is give us more proof it's not about science but politics and power from the we know what's best for you crowd. Gore's NYT op-ed is here. Ann Althouse's drop kick of same is here.

If Al Gore and his troop want to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere they can start by holding their breath. We'd all consider it a favor.
