It seems to me that if you wanted to compare...

No, seriously...
In Philadelphia, a fifth grade girl brings a paper gun to school and is searched and scolded. The mom responds by pulling her child out of school and home schooling her. Good choice. Public school administrator and teachers with such poor decision making skills don't need to be in charge of children.

Six Flags turns away tattooed woman
A lady in Texas, with revolvers and roses tattooed on her chest, was denied entry to Six Flags over Texas because an employee felt the tattoos were offensive and a violation of their dress code.
I’ll give Six Flags the benefit of a doubt and place this one on the bias of the employee. Her other job must be as a public school administrator.
"She said it was as offensive as a swastika and that she would sell me a $5 shirt to cover myself up and that they didn't let people with swastikas into Six Flags, and that my tattoo condoned violence," Osborn said. The tattooed lady and her family were able to enter from another entrance and after she complained Six Flags management apologized and promised to deal with the employee.

Bringing a gun to a snowball fight
Pulling a gun in a snowball fight is a bit of overkill wouldn't ya say? The fact that it was a cop that pulled the weapon doesn't make it any less so.

A story from down under
So this Drunk holding a can of "petrol" and a lighter runs toward a police officer. Officer feels threatened and lights him up with a Tazer. I mean the Officer literally lit him up with the Tazer. The police say it must have been his lighter. Maybe but I smell bullshit here and can guarantee you one thing. If the guy had any of the "petrol" on his person when the officer shot him with a Tazer it was the arc from the probes that lit him up.
In any event Tam summarizes it wonderfully.

Let's legalize dueling...
...and maybe we'd see the end of harassment like this. That or if your ethics complaint gets kicked to the curb you pay the legal fees for the person you accused? Then again, dueling. That's the ticket.
Fucktards.

Bury him already
I'm off the boob tube for the foreseeable future or until they plant Michael Jackson. At least on the internet I can avoid the incessant coverage. He's dead for Christ's sake. Ya'll have had more than enough time to mourn. LET. IT. GO.

A young lady received a suspicious email in which the sender demanded money be sent to a London address otherwise a terrorist group, Ismael, would track down her family and kill them. She told the police she thought it might be spam.

Lady Karma is truely...
...a royal bitch but sometimes she works for the good guys.
Independent.ie
In Ireland, a local gangster removes the magazine from his Glock without emptying the chamber and pulls the trigger. The story says he fired from close range so I guess he was fucking around and intentionally pointed it at his head prior to pulling the trigger. Regardless, he did not survive his encounter with the bullet. He was a suspect in a local feud that I gather has involved bad guys shooting bad guys. Oh, the paper called the shooting accidental. It may be accidental in the sense that I'm sure he didn't intend to blow his brains out, but I think the word you're looking for is carelessly. He carelessly shot himself in the head. He carelessly violated all four rules of gun handling and, well...got the expected result.

NASA naming contest falls for Colbert prank
From CNET News
If the results of an online poll are any indication, NASA may soon be naming a new wing of the International Space Station, Node 3, after late-night comedian Stephen Colbert.Damn, damn, damn.
According to the Associated Press, write-ins for "Colbert" crushed all of NASA's four poll options, pulling in 230,539 votes; the second-place choice, NASA suggestion "Serenity" (a nod to sci-fi hero Joss Whedon) was more than 40,000 votes behind. Writer Dave Barry also threw his hat in the ring, suggesting "Buddy" as the perfect name for Node 3. But he didn't amass nearly enough support.

Cigarette Loads

I loved these things growing up. My brother smoked and every morning he'd get up and call Mom at work and light up. He had a habit of leaving his smokes laying around. Once I took a couple out of the pack, pulled some tobacco out, placed the loads and repacked the tobacco over them. I went my way. Later my Mom told me that Bill called and while they talked she heard a small pop in the background then some profanity. Gotcha. Every time I see an ad for these things I get a warm fuzzy feeling.

Do you have to ride the short bus to get to Congress?
Legislators in Southwestern states concerned about drug violence in Mexico spilling across the border recommended tighter gun control and stronger law enforcement yesterday.Let's tighten gun control along the border and make it harder for U.S. Citizens to get guns and ammo to defend themselves from drug violence coming over the border. Why? Because of the unproven assertion that the machine guns and grenades being used in the ongoing drug war are being sold by gun shops in the southwestern states. Why would a drug lord on Forbes list of billionaires buy from local gun shops when bribes to the Mexican police and military have oh much less paperwork?

What the ...
Every once in a while, and way too often lately, you read a story that raises the question what the fuck? A learning disabled 16 year old in Rosemount Minnesota found a bag of $18,000 in a ditch on the side of the road and took it. He gave $11.000 of it away to fellow students and a teacher's aid. The aid found the money tucked in her bag and reported it to police who investigated and collected the money from the students. The 16 year old showed the police where he found the money and they found marijuana and scales. It turns out it was abandoned drug money. Should the kid have kept the money? No, but this is the bit that gets a big WTF.
The boy is not expected to face charges. A sheriff's deputy says he's "a good kid" who was trying to help people in need. What, Mister Deputy, would you charge him with? What crime did he commit? Larceny? Wouldn't the drug dealer have to file that complaint? Maybe failing to turn found drug money over to the Sheriff's Department so y'all can add it to your budget through civil forfeiture? That sounds about right. Yeah, go arrest him.
