So the wife and I got a notice from the IRS that we owed Uncle Sam money. I was expecting this but not the sum they wanted. So I called the help line Tuesday. The guy I spoke to was professional and quickly gave me the answer to my question. Hell, he answered my question before I could even answer it. I'd transposed a number on my daughter's Social Security on the form. I couldn't resolve it then. I was calling from work and didn't have access to her number. I called back today and spoke to another person, a lady, and spent close to an hour and a half on hold waiting for a resolution that didn't come because i was disconnected. I waited about ten minutes then called again. I got another lady who have me set after about ten minutes with the amount I knew I owed down to what I expected. I got the distinct impression #2 didn't really know what she was doing, but even she was polite and professional throughout. For all that we want to hate the IRS, we also have to give credit where it's due. So, thanks for your help guys. I'm really glad I don't owe the Fed close to two thousand dollars.

This should surprise no one.

After all, it's Obama's Department of Justice and there is no damn way any charges are going to be brought against one of his political operatives.

According to a government audit, IRS Agents ‘Accidentally’ Discharged Guns 11 Times between 2009 and 2011. Some of those weapons discharges resulted in property damage or personal injury, claimed the report. In fact, agents accidentally fired their guns more times than they did intentionally, said the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division is armed, but armed or not, the IRS wields enormous power.

So that's why the IRS emails disappeared.

Makes as much sense as the bullshit the White House is spouting, AND it is the White House. The dudes making the excuses are just Obama's sock puppets.

That's what I get for waiting so long to file.

I filed my Federal tax return for 2008 late this year. I always file as an injured spouse because my wife has an outstanding educational loan that she received and defaulted on prior to our marriage. I was due a refund. They received the return early in November and today I got a letter telling me that the Treasury Department had taken it to pay on the loan. This happens almost every year. So, I call the IRS around 8:00pm and two hours later and four IRS employees later I had an answer. the refund is pending and call back in about three weeks if I haven't gotten it. Calling the IRS is a pain. Everyone I spoke to was extremely helpful and did their best with the tools they had. Its not the employees. Its not the referrals to other employees. Its the listening to the music, some classical some who the frack knows, while waiting "in excess of fifteen minutes" for someone to get to you. And again, everyone I spoke to did their best to help me until one was finally able to. The moral? I don't know, but this year I'm filing early. Merry Christmas
