Guns and Mexico

With aid and comfort from the US press the Mexican Ambassador and Government of Mexico keep pushing the meme that Mexico's problems with the cartels are the fault of the US gun culture.

Mexico's ambassador to the United States, Arturo Sarukhan, has noted that as many as 2,000 weapons enter Mexico from the U.S. every day -- most of them through Texas and Arizona, and many of them are purchased legally at gun shows and gun stores.

but some in the US Press are opening their eyes a bit.

Most of these weapons are being smuggled from Central American countries or by sea, eluding U.S. and Mexican monitors who are focused on the smuggling of semiauto- matic and conventional weapons purchased from dealers in the U.S. border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
