Recent Addition - Don Winslow of the Navy

Don Winslow of the Navy Daily #535-D 2-5-48, Art by Leon Beroth, Story by Frank V. Martinek.

My understanding is that the strip was originally concieved as a recuitment aid for the U. S. Navy. Whatever it's origins it grew in popularity and lasted from 1934 to 1955. I've never ead it but there is a collection of select stips available here.

Buz Sawyer Daily 6/28/71 by Roy Crane, Henry G. Schlensker, and Edwin Granberry

In 1946, 31-year-old Henry G. Schlensker, who had created Biff Baker with Ernest Lynn (1941–45), settled in Orlando, where he became Crane's art assistant. An ulcer resulted in Crane's retirement from the strip in the 1960s, but he continued to work closely with Granberry and Schlensker. After Crane's death in 1977, Schlensker began signing the strip. - Wikipedia
