Another win for the good guys.

A decision, handed down yesterday. The Court essentially held that the government could not use wide-ranging forfeiture powers to freeze "untainted" money held by defendant, and thereby prevent the defendant from retaining private counsel.
So apparently the Department of Justice's favorite tactic of locking down a defendant's bank accounts, whether connected to the accused crime or not, is no longer allowed if that money is "untainted" by the crime. I see this as a good thing. and, hey, the High Court seems to be doing fine with eight Justices.
