NJ Governor Christie may have commuted...

...Brian Aitkens' sentence, but that doesn't make him a friend of gun owners in New Jersey or anywhere else. Bob Owens tells the tale here. Too bad. I liked the way he was standing up to the left in New Jersey.

I thought I had read on another gun blog (TTAG, or NL-OGAM, maybe) that his lawyer had specifically asked NOT for a full commutation, so they could set up a legal case for challenging NJ's gun laws. But that story, if accurate, isn't getting the promulgation it needs, or if false, the denouncement of it as a rumor.

I think you may be confusing a pardon with a commutation. Aitken’s attorney went for a commutation rather than a pardon to get him out of jail quicker and so as to not muddy the waters on the appeal to overturn the conviction which he also hopes will overturn or at least clarify NJ’s gun laws.
