Mortar go boom!

Sometimes I run across things on the Internet that just freaking amaze me. This video of a Palestinian[?] using a mortar is one. What I'm not sure of is whether the round detonated in the tube or counter battery fire got him? If I had to bet I'd say #1 but then I'm not former military. Either way the sum bitch is dead.
