Just allow concealed carry already

No campus police department is going to have enough available manpower to place them "undercover" into the community in numbers sufficient to be a real deterrent. The fear they are present isn't an issue for the "active shooter" or nutjob since their endgame includes their biting the big one at the end of the rampage either by their own hand or that of the police. Maybe the police chief thinks that by publicizing this action it might scare said nutjobs off. Ain't gonna happen. What he has done in telling everyone there are "undercover" police officers around to stop said nutjobs when they go active is create a false sense of safety that he can in no way guarantee. I wonder if this chief can spell liability. Probably not. Illinois would be better off to pass concealed carry and allow adults to carry on campus. That would provide a real deterrent, but that's probably beyond him as well.
