No.

Sheriffs in North Carolina want access to state computer records identifying anyone with prescriptions for powerful painkillers and other controlled substances.
The North Carolina Sheriff’s Association is one powerful lobby in North Carolina and they usually get what they want. The database in question was developed for use by doctors and pharmacists so they so they could see if patients were doctor shopping pain killers. The ACLU helped kill a similar attempt in 2007. Tis my hope that they do the same this time around. Having access to the database would be of great help to local law enforcement in their war on some drugs, but you know I value the privacy of my medical records of which my prescription record is a part. Get a search warrant or pound sand.

Contact your local representatives and ask them to oppose this.

Update: Radley Balko sounds off on it.
Update: ...as does MikeH.
