Uncharted by Kevin J. Anderson and Sarah A. Hoyt

Halley's Comet exploded sometime 16th century and magic was possible again. The down side was that North America was cut off from Europe so history branched off from what we know. Now in 1804 the Sorcerer Ben Franklin contracts Lewis and Clark to form an expedition to find a route to the Pacific to determine whether Europe can be reached the long way round, and there is evil magic afoot in the Western lands. They are tasked to investigate that as well. Anderson and Hoyt are both fine writers on their own and work very well together. It's a good read and I enjoyed it very much. I think it is potentially the first in a series. I hope so. It is good stuff. Highly Recommended.
