If you don't mind subtitles and like a good historical/war epic take a look at John Woo's Red Cliff. Two factions ally to battle against the evil warlord trying to reunify the Han Empire.
Woo's Hong Kong made The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, Bulllet in the Head, and Hardboiled are top notch films. I also liked his Hollywood efforts: Hard Target, Face/Off, and Broken Arrow. Windtalkers and Paycheck sucked. Red Cliff is a return to the quality of his older films. I've not seen the edited version released in the US, but this four hour plus the two disc International version rocks.
