August 6, 1945

On 6 August 1945 the United States Air Corp dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare on the city of Hiroshima and in doing so may have saved my father's life and in so doing made mine possible. That's all I have to say on the matter. Kevin has a bit more to say and some useful links on the subject.

Not me!!!

It definitely saved my father's life (hell they lost 1/3 of his squadron in SIX WEEKS flying out of Okinawa Summer of '45 and he flew along the coast of Japan after the armistice and said they were READYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADYREADY
My friend's grandfather was in the 4th Marine Division and he said they were gonna tear a 100-mile-wide swath across Japan and kill every living thing in that zone ala Sherman's march on steroids. As far as inventions go the atom bomb was a champ and the wheel was a good one too-
