Relics by Tim Lebbon

It was recommended by a friend and I'm glad he did. A grad student's boyfriend disappears and her search for him leads into the London criminal underworld and the the unexpected. I'd call it Urban Fantasy. Good characters, plot, and world building. There were points where the pace slowed but they're few. Highly recommended.
