Judge temporarily blocks Deerfield assault weapons ban, which was to take effect WednesdayIllinois has preemption. Under their preemption law firearms ordinances passed prior to it's passage were grandfathered but no new ones after. The city council i Deerfield figured they could get around preemption by amending an existing ordinance. They got sued and the judge has told Deerfield "not so fast". The order is temporary, but I expect it to become permanent. We'll see. As of now, it's a win, and I'll take that.
H/T to Sebastian.
