This is the latest in his Amberverse series. You can't really read any of these books without starting on the first. After twelve or more books in the series, I found myself lured away to another book while reading this. I found my way back but, it may be getting a bit old. I'll still give this a recommendation and hope the next holds my attention more 'cuz Stirling on an off day beat most other writers.

I liked the last one before this one but the one before that was utterly boring.
2 or 3 pages describing the courses in a meal or Ranger flets really got me annoyed.
I've been putting off getting this one.
The first three were fantastic, the next few were really good, since then it's been hit and miss.
I might wait until next year to get this one in paperback and if I like it, I'll get the new one in hardcover.
