Oh, I agree.
Zimmerman is toast. Despite Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law being an affirmative defense, despite the fact that the known facts of the case demonstrate it to be as righteous a self-defense shooting as has ever taken place, Zimmerman is going to be thrown to the mob.
Note that "affirmative defense" and the clear wording of the SYG law say that Zimmerman should never even have been indicted. All he had to say was "I was in fear for my life from an unlawful assault." But little things like the actual words of the law, or guarantees of "due process" or "equal protection of the laws" are dead. Rule of law has been dead for generations. Now we have the rule of man, an extended civil service and a kritocracy made up entirely of perpetually-aggrieved Social Justice Warriors who are perpetually looking for new and whimsical ways to put the screws to Whitey.
Well, let me show you a news story that tells you all you need to know about the "criminal justice system" in Florida, and, for that matter, in the USSA:
Last week in Jacksonville, Florida, one Donald James Smith, serial child rapist freed on early parole for good behavior, out of the hoosegow less than three weeks, abducted, raped, and strangled an eight-year-old girl, and was caught with her sodomized corpse in the back of his van. This news story was barely a ripple in the Florida newsmedia before getting dropped down the Memory Hole. And if you want to reference that page you'd better copy it and mirror it before they take it down. This is the state of Florida, which flatly refuses to do anything to protect children from the Donald James Smiths of the world, presumably because the schwoogies aren't threatening to riot and burn down Jacksonville over "some little white racist bitch who probably deserved to die anyway." But God help you if you defend yourself against a schwoogie thug in Florida, Stand Your Ground law or no, clear open-and-shut self-defense case or no, you're going to fry and the Florida state Attorney General is going to make sure of it, because they're more afraid of the moolies than they are of living in a society where thugs and murderers like Donald James Smith and Trayvon Martin run amok. It's not as if they have a shortage of bad guys to go after.
It's fascinating to watch how they pick and choose who's going to walk free and who's going to fry, and who can be threatened with a "dead or alive" bounty by President Obama's Chicago homeboys from the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panther Party, isn't it?
I am not sure where these societal trends are leading, but--oh, what am I saying? We all know how this is going to end up. Got ammo?
It's the duplicity of the prosecutors and a Judge in their pocket that frustrates me. I still think there is a damn good chance that his defense can pull it off and the jury will acquit. The process just drives me bugfuck.
"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." - Mao Zedong
"America is at that awkward stage. It’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.” – Claire Wolfe
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." - P. J. O'Rourke.
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson
"The right to buy weapons is the right to be free." - A. E. Van Vogt
"The price of freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, at any time, and with utter recklessness." - Robert A. Heinlein
"Statesmen are dead politicians. Lord knows we need more statesmen." - Opus the Penquin
"All politics in this country now is just dress rehearsal for civil war." - Billy Beck
The Four Rules
1 - All firearms are always loaded. 2 - Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy. 3 - Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. 4 - Be sure of your target and what lies beyond it.
---Jeff Cooper
Four More Rules
1 - Don't go to stupid places.
2 - Don't hang out with stupid people.
3 - Don't do stupid things.
4 - Asking for trouble is a pretty good way to get it
