Man Stops Burglar, Gets Arrested.
Warning shots are never a good idea, and walking up to the burglar, pointing the gun at him, and telling him to stop or else would have probably produced the same result. Regardless, this is a fucked up situation. The cops should've been shaking his hand not cuffing both.

Looks like the County Attorney has had a flash of common sense, charges will be dropped. Now to get his guns back...
And yeah, warning shots are a bad idea. Besides wasting a round that you might need in the very near future, and uncertainty about where that bullet is going, you've just convinced the goblin that you're really not serious about shooting him.
I'm more concerned about where the round ends up. I can disabuse the goblin of his notions on how serious I am with shot two.
