And again this extortionware...
...pops up on the PC and again I use malwarebytes to delete it. I have a strong suspicion that I'll be doing it again tomorrow night about the same rime and that there is something on ye old hard drives that malwarebytes missed. Anyone out there with a suggestion for a next step that doesn't include reformatting my hard drives?

On a couple of occasions, I've attempted to deal with these infestations, and to no avail. I went into the remove software function of control panel, found the suspected culprit and removed it. But the sneeky bastards have the program hidden elsewhere and it restores itself the next time around.
The only way to get rid of it is to format the hard drive. After that, I bought Registry Mechanic, Norton 360 AND turned on the Windows Firewall. So far, knock on wood, nothing has been able to slip in under the radar. Of course, that is always subject to change since there is some extra bright technogeek out there who is only a program code or two from creating a whole new threat.
