A Review of Miss Sloane...

...here.

This saves me the trouble of having to watch it.

I haven't and won't see it. Based on what I've read, it's a Hollywood gun control wet dream with little or no relationship to reality. At a cost of $18,000,000 it may break even...maybe. The lead, Jessica Chastain, will probably get an Oscar nomination. Then it will fade into the Lifetime oblivion it deserves.

UPDATE: Tom Madden, the Director, claims the production did not consult with either side of the gun control debate. Apparently, the Brady Bunch and actors in the film didn't get that message. AND Wikipedia's entry on the film calls it a box office bomb. Drum roll...it made 1.7 million over the weekend. What did they expect. People want to be entertained at the theater, not preached to.

UPDATE: As of 12-16-2016, 2.7 million in ticket sales.

A Thank You to the IRS

So the wife and I got a notice from the IRS that we owed Uncle Sam money. I was expecting this but not the sum they wanted. So I called the help line Tuesday. The guy I spoke to was professional and quickly gave me the answer to my question. Hell, he answered my question before I could even answer it. I'd transposed a number on my daughter's Social Security on the form. I couldn't resolve it then. I was calling from work and didn't have access to her number. I called back today and spoke to another person, a lady, and spent close to an hour and a half on hold waiting for a resolution that didn't come because i was disconnected. I waited about ten minutes then called again. I got another lady who have me set after about ten minutes with the amount I knew I owed down to what I expected. I got the distinct impression #2 didn't really know what she was doing, but even she was polite and professional throughout. For all that we want to hate the IRS, we also have to give credit where it's due. So, thanks for your help guys. I'm really glad I don't owe the Fed close to two thousand dollars.

It what they do...

...lie. The Republican Party is the "stupid" party. The Democrats are the party of "making shit up".

Bill Whittle: Hillary's Final Disgrace

Recent Addition

This page is from Adventures of Superman Annual #7.  Ron Wagner's pencils were inked by Joe Rubinstein. I remember Rubinstein's inks in a number of comics. His work has always added rather than detracted from the pencils he inks. That's what I ask in an inker.

Wagner penciled issues of Marvel's G. I. Joe and Punisher to name a few. He was the primary penciller on Nth Man: The Ultimate Ninja, a particular favorite of mine. So I wanted a sample of his art and this popped up at a price I could afford. I like it, and, ya know, guns.

The last two days were spent...

...putting up Christmas decorations, or as I call it, pimping the house [but not when the wife is in earshot]. Still not done, but I'm almost there. Back to normal blogging tomorrow.

I Think Tom Might Be Correct - We Need An Asst AG For The Second Amendment
I'd be nice to see an army of DOJ lawyers coming down on, say, New Jersey when they violate their citizen's enumerated rights with bullshit gun control legislation. I'd be funny as hell, as well.
