If the anti-gunnies or the left-liberal dicks must resort to this level of discourse, it means we're doing something right. Even better, I see it as another sign we're winning.

The future of journalism

With the advent of the internet traditional new outlets are taking a major hit. Those traditional outlets are arguing that their role in our society is so critical that the Fed should bail 'em out. Well the FTC has a working paper on the subject that more or less calls for federalization of the media. Considering just how far the head of the mainstream media is up the ass of the current administration I'm not sure what the difference will be other than from where the paycheck will come.

When that happens kiss the First Amendment goodbye. We'll have a Ministry of Propaganda Information to run the show and what we'll get from it is Pravda.

Dueling Banjos - Lester Flatt

A neat post over at Roberta X's got me to thinking about Lester Flatt's Dueling Banjos, which lead me to You Tube, which lead to this, which is also neat.

Six Flags turns away tattooed woman

A lady in Texas, with revolvers and roses tattooed on her chest, was denied entry to Six Flags over Texas because an employee felt the tattoos were offensive and a violation of their dress code.

"She said it was as offensive as a swastika and that she would sell me a $5 shirt to cover myself up and that they didn't let people with swastikas into Six Flags, and that my tattoo condoned violence," Osborn said.

The tattooed lady and her family were able to enter from another entrance and after she complained Six Flags management apologized and promised to deal with the employee.

I’ll give Six Flags the benefit of a doubt and place this one on the bias of the employee. Her other job must be as a public school administrator.

Stealth Gun Control

I’ve seen no confirmation from other sources, but Alan Korwin of the Uninvited Ombudsman reports that sources he trusts have told him the Obama White House has ordered the State Department to do what it can to prevent the importation of WWII and Korean War era firearms back into the United States.

The main effect of this move is, without fanfare or public attention, to stop the flow of fine M1 Garand and M1 carbine rifles into the hands of American citizens. The M1 is an affordable, accurate, dependable, and exceptionally well-made general-purpose American rifle. Made in .30 caliber, it was the first auto-loading rifle generally issued to the infantry of any nation.

If true, this is but another example of Obama’s pushing gun control through bureaucratic and administrative maneuvering rather than direct legislative action. He has no balls for a stand-up fight with gun owners or the NRA, but why should he when he can get what he wants by stealth.

Don't worry Papa O will foot the bill...

The federal government will shoulder almost the entire cost of the Medicaid expansion established in the new health reform law, according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation study, the Washington Post reports.

So that would mean my Federal taxes rather than my State taxes will be paying for Obamacare. That means, you twits, taxpayers will be footing the bill no matter what wealth redistribution outlet it’s funneled through. As Claire Wolfe says…

…it’s no wonder that 24 percent of Americans believe the fedgov has its own money supply, completely independent of taxpayers.

U.N. Small Arms Treaty

From a Washington Times editorial on the U.N. Small Arms Treaty...

This U.N. treaty will lead to more gun control in America. "After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms," former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton warns. "The [Obama] administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context. ... They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn't otherwise."

The Obama Administration has shown no support for gun control legislation in the House or Senate. Its fairly obvious they want to avoid the political blow back of said support. Yet they're supporting the U.N. Small Arms Treaty like we don't understand its intent or probably consequences. That is one of the hallmarks of the Obama Administration. They think they're the brightest kids on the block and the rest of us are stupid. Time to teach them otherwise.

…and it took the ATF forty-two years to figure this out?

Reversing an interpretation of the Gun Control Act that has been on the books for more than four decades, ATF today posted a ruling declaring any shipment of a firearm by a manufacturer (FFL) to any agent or business (e.g., an engineering-design firm, patent lawyer, testing lab, gun writer, etc.) for a bona fide business purpose to be a "transfer" under the Gun Control Act of 1968. As a consequence, legitimate business-related shipments will now require the recipient to complete a Form 4473 and undergo a Brady criminal background check. In many instances, these requirements will force shipments to a third party, thereby lengthening the process and the time that the firearm is in transit.

This is the face of the Obama Administration. They don’t have the balls to push for gun control directly through legislation. Instead they do it by changing bureaucratic policies to make life more difficult for the gun industry and gun owners. Anybody remember the order to trash once fired military brass? Gun control or at least harassment from the flank. Expect even more of this crap.

A cut off switch for firearms?

Since 2008 new cars have been with a device that would allow an outside operator to disable your car. IBM has submitted a patent for the device, called CARSHARK that would make this possible. With the nanny staters pushing for smart guns what do you think might the next logical extension of this technology? It’ll be for the children and of course “officer safety”. The safety of the gun owner? That’s secondary to the whim of government even now. David Codrea has more here.

An 80 year old Army veteran shot and killed a burglar after said burglar fired twice into his apartment.
