A .22-caliber gun was found by a 10-year-old boy in the Adidas store under a bench, police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said.

A judge was ambushed in Steubenvillen, Ohio. The 65 year old judge was armed and returned fire hitting his assailant. A probation officer also fired on the assailant. The judge was hit but is in stable condition. His attacker wasn't so lucky. The attacker was the father of a young man convicted of rape but local authorities are unsure of motive. When Democrats’ national position depended on unwavering support from “the Solid South,” we got lots of pro-Southern propaganda: the Lost Cause, Gone With The Wind, Disneyfied Uncle Remus, etc. As a vital Democrat constituency group, southerners, even practical neo-Confederates, were absolved of all sins as long as they stayed in line.

Now the South isn’t “solid” anymore — or, more accurate, it’s becoming pretty solidly Republican — so rather than receiving cultural dispensations, it now gets targeted for cultural warfare.

That’s all that’s going on here. It has nothing to do with morality or decency, any more than it did a half-century or more ago when the national cultural machine took a different position. It’s just politics by other means. The rest is just noise.

So, three armed invaders break into a home where they encounter two residents. In the resulting struggle one of the residents get s gun away from one of the home invaders and opens fire. The home invaders flee and one is wounded. The responding police then arrest the resident who defended himself for attempted murder and associated firearms charges. Maybe that's because he tried to nail 'em on the fly as they fled. Maybe it just a f****d up view of what is and isn't self-defense. Maybe it's just Canada. What I do know is I'm glad I'm down here south of their border were if three armed gits broke into my house I'd be allowed to defend myself.
