SWATting is when someone makes a report to the police of a horrific crime in the hope that when the police respond they will kill the accused. It's basically murder by cop. Here's the a recent example where a death occurred as a result.

Comicsgate, in my opinion, is a conservative movement of comicbook fans that prefer comics as entertainment rather than political indoctrination. They prefer a customer centered product where, if there are politics in them, the politics service the story not the other way around, AND they tend to be vocal about it. The SJW sided comic community responded as SJWs always do with mostly hate filled invective and attempts to destroy the lives and careers of their opponents. They've had some success with that, but it appears that's not enough now.

The New Assault Weapons Ban

H.R.1296 - To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes.

The bill has 190 co-sponsers, all Democrats, no Republicans, and it will probably pass the House, but why make it easy for them. Call your representatives and let them know the consequences of a yes vote. Win or lose, we fight.

Democrats this week approved legislation to require background checks for essentially all sales and transfers of firearms -- but rejected GOP-led efforts to amend the legislation to alert law enforcement authorities when gun buyers, including illegal immigrants, fail those background checks.

What's the point of a law without an enforcement mechanism? Is the Deep State gonna make it up as they go along? Ths stupid and damn scary at the same time. Oh, write your Senators and ask them to kill this measure.

The HB 86 Wish List

HB 86 - A Bill To Californicate North Carolina Gun Laws

• Require a permit for the purchase of any pistol, "assault weapon", or long gun. I see no exemptions in the bill other than a NC CHP for receipt of a firearm. In other words, as a Curios and Relics FFL I would still need a permit or my CHP to receive a firearm.
• Imposes a 3-day waiting period after purchase "or agreement to give away or transfer, the pistol, assault weapon, or long gun."
• Defines an "assault weapon" to include the usual list of ARs, AKs, etc. It does add Saiga 12 shotguns, any semiautomatic centerfire rifle that has one or more of the "evil features" such as a pistol grip or adjustable stock, any semiautomatic pistol that accepts a magazine outside of the pistol grip, semiauto shotguns that can take a detachable magazine, and those shotguns with a revolving cylinder.
• Modification of the pistol purchase permit to include "assault weapons" and long guns.
• Bans sale, possession, or carrying "assault weapons" by those under the age of 21 with certain exceptions.
• Bans bump stocks and trigger cranks including those possessed prior to December 1, 2019.
• Requires safe storage of all firearms except when being carried or used by the owner or legally authorized user. Violation is a Class A1 midemeanor and would add punitive damages in civil lawsuits.
• Repeal universal concealed handgun permit reciprocity. North Carolina currently accepts any out of state CCW as valid for carry within the state.
• Requires the reporting of any stolen firearm within 48 hours. It makes it a Class 3 misdemeanor for the first violation and a Class I felony for the second violation.
• Requires liability insurance for all gun owners of not less than $100,000.
• Limits magazine size to 15 rounds for pistols and rifles; limits shotgun magazines to 8 shells; limits shotgun tubes to no more than 8 shells. Bans "large capacity" magazines and requires all new magazines made in NC to have date of manufacture imprinted on them. Grandfathers pre-December 1, 2019 magazines so long as continuous ownership is maintained.
• Repeals state preemption of local firearm regulations.
• Mandates destruction of seized firearms.
• Adopts the California Roster of Handguns and adopts their testing requirements. If your handgun is not on the roster, it can only be sold to either a sheriff or a FFL. No mention of microstamping in the bill's language though that is a feature of the California Roster.

That's exactly what this is. A wish list from Everytown and the Demanding Moms that I'm not sure they actuall expect to go anywhere. It is most likely dead on arrival. The GOP still has a majority in the North Carolina Legislature, but complacency will kill us, and some members of the GOP aren't our friends. Contact your representatives and tell them to kill this abomination in committee.

Background Checks Don't Work

Aurora shooter opened fire at termination meeting; one victim was HR intern on first day

So a guy in Illinois with an out of state felony conviction and at least eight local arrests in his criminal history, including one for domestic violence, manages to pass the background check to get a FOID card and the NICS check to purchase a handgun. They discover the aforementioned incidents when he attempted to get a concealed carry permit. they revoked his license, told him to return the firearm, and when he didn't did nothing. Yesterday, he killed five people at his place of employment when he was fired. Who's fault is that? Not the NRA. Not gun owners. I'd go as far as to say not even the State of Illinois because if a State as anti-gun as Illinois can't make their anti-gun polices work, no one can. Background checks don't work. Depending on them to save lives instead of good people with guns is just plain stupid.

It's Weber but it is the latest in a series that requires you to read them from the beginning to have a clue as to what is happening. If you like Weber you will like this book. I would call it a transition book that does little but set up the next novel and it's new "Big Bad". Recommended.
