These clowns with a rifle tried to rob a lady...

...at her back door. She went and got her gun, and fired a warming shot. They ran. Nobody was hurt, and that's a good thing.

Apocalypse Dance by C. J. Carell

Third in Carell's Armageddon Girl series and every bit as good as the rest. It isn't the last in the series but it does wrap up the original story line.

Another Funny

THAT might even get me through four years of Hillary, and with that, I'll move on.

Now THAT'S Funny

You know it is, even if you are a Democrat.

FBI reopens Clinton probe after new emails found in Anthony Weiner case
I wish it was Comey taking an opportunity to redeem himself after the farce of the previous emailgate investigation. Maybe the check didn't clear. Naw, they're just f**king with us. Nothing is going to happen.

It's Done.

I held my nose and did the the deed. May God have mercy on us all.

I voted at a location at the local university. Turnout was not high. Less than 600 around four in the afternoon. Big sign letting everyone know an ID wasn't required. No hassle. In and out quick.

Total US Firearms: Not 300 Million, but 412-660 Million?

I can buy that. So we know 300 million is a bogus number. It's higher. Considerably higher. Yeah, that's gotta drive those anti-gun f**ktards crazy. Heh. Good.

Those evil sexist and racist...Democrats?

Hacked email: Deploy the 'brown and women pundits'
But the MSM will ignore it to instead hit on that evil sexist and racist Trump. Hypocrites all.

Castaway Odyssey by Eric Flint and Rik Spoor

this fifth in their Boundary series and a direct sequel to their Castaway Planet. Here another group of crewmen/colonists work to survive the accident that set them adrift in space. Good story, characterizations, and solid science fiction of the the old school. I enjoyed it as much as the first. I hope there will be a third.

Steve Dillon RIP

Steve Dillon, Comic Artist Who Helped Create ‘Preacher,’ Dies at 54
I read his collaborations with Garth Ennis including Preacher, Hellblazer, and The Punisher and enjoyed them. He was currently working on another Punisher series. Damn. Who the hell dies of a ruptured appendix in this day and age?

Husband assaults estranged wife and...

in Tennessee, a man breaks into the home of his estranged wife to do her harm and has harm done to him instead. She shot him. dead. You might also note that the protective order against him did damn little to protect her while the pistol worked quite well.

H/T to Uncle.

Stupid gathers in a herd.

Illinois State Rep. Plots to Solve Fewer Murders, Frustrate Cops, Injure Law-Abiding Gun Owners
She wants serial numbers on ammunition. OK. Where? AND she has the support of other Chicago politicians. Stupid runs in herds.

Doomsday Duet by C. J. Carell

It's the second in the Armageddon Girl series and every bit as good. Highly Recommended.

Early voting started in North Carolina today...

...so go vote your conscience, but understand a vote for Hillary is a vote against the Second Amendment and a vote for government by the highest bidder. Go vote.

Alliance of Shadows by Larry Correia and Mike Kupari

It's the last of the Dead Six trilogy and I liked it. It didn't hold me as well as the previous two or any of their solo novels, and I'm not sure I could tell you why. I read two other books at the same time I read this one. I don't know. Still, I liked it and will read anything else they write: together or solo.

The Short Drop by Matthew Fitzsimmons

I bought it on a whim because it looked interesting and the price was right. Then I found myself reading it at every available moment. I even put aside the latest Correia novel. That's how good it was. It held my attention throughout and kept me guessing. I will read the next in the series. Highly Recommended.

Isn't that still within the margin of error?

Poll: Clinton leads Trump by just 4 points despite lewd comments
I suspect that if Hillary wins it won't be a landslide, and there's always the Bradley Effect.

The Accountant

I would like to suggest a John Wick meets the Accountant movie. Anybody Listening? Yes, I liked The Accountant. Well done all around. Interesting story with good performances by all and lots of action, lots of guns, and to my eye a director and crew who at least tried to get the gun stuff right. Go watch it and enjoy.

Armageddon Girl by C. J. Carell

I probably wouldn't have picked this one up if not for the five star review by S. M. Stirling. This wasn't a blurb but an actual review. That was unusual enough that I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. General plot is college student pulled in to an alternate universe where super-heroes are real and now she is one. No cardboard characterizations here. We get a well written, we plotted look at a new world. I liked it and will be picking up the sequels. Highly Recommended.

Still ain't watching it...

...but this was at Instapundit.

That looks like an "oh, Shit!" moment to me.

Debate Tonight

No interest. Neither has anything to say that will influence my vote. It might be fun to hear Trump's response if Hillary brings up his "lewd" comments, but not nearly enough to watch. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Enabler

If Trump is so bad for his comments on women, what does Hillary's actions in regard to the First Hubby make her?

How 'bout you all shut the **** up and run on issues. This ain't.

Patriots by David Drake

I originally read this back in 1996. It came in the latest Baen bundle so I read it again. I'd forgotten just how much I enjoyedd it. It takes Ethan Allen, the Green Mountain Boys, the American Revolution and drops them on a planet far, far away. It is good stuff and highly recommended.

A Win [Mostly] for the Good Guys

Federal Judge Overturns Ban on Openly Carrying Guns in Public
The Bad Guys got to keep licensing requirements for individuals , storage restrictions on firearms in the home, and the ban on magazines holding over ten rounds.

Firearms registration, the ban on long gun caliber restrictions above .223, the ban based on certain "assault weapon" characteristics [a pistol grip under the action of the weapon, a folding or telescoping stock, a flare launcher, a flash suppressor, a forward pistol grip], the ban on carrying a handgun in public, and a $1,000 excise tax on pistols got tossed. I think we got more than we lost so this is a win [mostly] for the Good Guys.

The next entry into Flint's Jao/Human series continues their search for allies in their war against the Ekhat. K. D Wentworth began the series with Flint but Carrico fills in quite well. I'm looking forward to the next. Highly recommended.
