Poor choice of victim can be hazardous to one's health.

I missed this one. Two armed burglars broke into a house in Jacksonville NC and decided to wait for the home owners to return. When the residents returned it appears a fire fight erupted resulting in the deaths of the two burglars and injuries to the residents. The residents were treated at a local hospital and released. Two of the residents were Marines from nearby Camp Lejeune.

Korean Garands one step closer?

Korea to Begin Broker’s Auction of 84,417 M1 Rifles Destined for USA
I suspect that if we can't get them in-country by November, the Obama Administration, assuming he wins the election, will find some way to screw it up.

Twenty years ago today...

...the Los Angles riots broke out when the police officer accused of beating Rodney King were found not guilty. Three days and fifty-three deaths later they ended. You decide if we'll have more of this to look forward to with the Zimmerman trial. I get the feeling that some news outlets hope we will. Be careful what you wish for.

Woman shoots home invader.

In Fayetteville, North Carolina A home owner was awakened from her nap by the sound of glass breaking. She discovered a man trying to unlock her kitchen window. He yelled at them then fired. She struck one in the chest. Both subjects ran. One was later taken into custody at a local hospital. Both teenagers are in custody. There are no plans to charge the home owner. This is why we have and need a Castle Doctrine.

She stood her ground.

In Georgia, a fifty-seven year old grandmother shot one would be robber in the chest and scared the other armed robber off in an exchange of gunfire. She was in the front seat when the two approached her vehicle, demanded money, then opened fire when she didn't obey. Robber #1 is in the hospital with a chest wound. Robber #2 is in custody. Other than the bullet holes in her vehicle, she's fine and still feisty. .

Rough times coming.

I could say and so it begins but that wouldn't be correct. The battle for our Sencond Amendment rights never stopped. There was a lull at most. The gun control crowd have been getting their asses handed to them lately, but they all belong to the "never let a crisis got to waste" crowd. Trayvon Martin and Stand Your Ground are the "crisis" they wanted. They may see this as their last chance to turn the tide. They have money and the media. Tough. Our grassroots beats their astroturf. We're better at this than they are. We can guess what's to come in the next legislative sessions. Start calling you representatives now and let them know where you stand.

9-year-old suspended after he says he stood up to a bully

In a Colorado school a nine year old was the target of two bullies. They would knock him around. He would tell the teacher as he had been told to do, and #$%& all would happen. Finally, with the approval of his parents, he defended himself and got suspended. It's the school's pesky zero tolerance policy regarding violence. It doesn't acknowledge that violence can have a positive result like ending the attacks on a nine year old by grade school thugs. A school spokesperson said...
District 11 schools employ many anti-bullying teaching techniques … and none of these methods include violence or retaliation.”
None of them seem to be effective either any more than zero tolerance polices are.

New York City's handgun CCW permit system is...

..."needs" based. The NYPD decides if you need a permit. Apparently, those with wealth and celebrity have needs that the rank and file do not. It's a Bloombergian paradise.

It has been reported that...

...Bank of America no longer wishes to do business with gun companies. It follows then that they don't wish to do business with gun owners. I suggest we take our business elsewhere. Let's see how that effects their bottom line.

John has an update. It appears that Corporate has claimed they do not discriminate. So what are they going to do about VPs who either do not know policy or make their own?

A bit of history passing by.

The estranged wife and S1 and D3 are Cocoa Beach and saw this from the her Dad's yard. The picture is a cellphone picture of the viewfinder of her camera and therefore sucks. It's still neat. They were all excited. Mostly depresses me.

Russian Fuckwittery

Looks like the Soviets Russians are taking a hard line on self-defense. A businessman defended his family against four gun toting home invaders with a knife. He killed three. He's been charged with murder.

Zimmerman Charged.

Now a jury gets to decide what happened.

Oh, who wants odds on whether Holder's Department of Justice charges him with civil rights violations?

Spent the weekend...

...dealing with the middle daughter's drama. I find this gem from over at Borepatch's especially appropriate.

Haywire

I liked the fight scenes. Gina Carano knows her stuff and Steven Soderbergh frames the action so you can actually see what she's doing. Tatum and Fassbinder at least look like they know what they're doing as she kicks their asses but Ewan McGregor fights like he's in a cat fight. The plot is standard revenge flick. The name actors all do their jobs well. Carano does OK. With experience I think she will get more comfortable with more than kicking ass.

Rick Santorum drops out...

Act of Valor

That was a hell of a ride, and one of the best action films I've seen in quite a while.

To those that criticized the acting of the Navy SEAL leads, pound sand. For active duty Navy SEALS they did a damn good job if only because it's not in them to do any less.

Trust and the Easter Bunny

My estranged, or just strange, wife, son, and the youngest daughter [YD] went down to Cocoa Beach, Florida to spend the Easter holiday with her dad. So yesterday I get this story. The YD is afraid the Easter Bunny won't be able to find her so the request was made that I leave him a note at the house telling him where YD was. I told the wife to tell the youngest I'd do that. Then the wife told me the YD wanted a picture emailed to her proving I'd done it. I could be bothered by a certain lack of trust, but that's one sharp kid.

It's still a rule two violation.

It don't matter whether it's a rifle, pistol, or nail gun. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
Nail gun survivor describes accident

Good Shooting.

In Detriot, four bad guys break into a home and are in the victim's kitchen examining a gun they found in her purse while she is upstairs getting the spare. She meets one of the bad guys coming up the stairs gun in hand and shoots him in the head. The others run like hell.

Al Sharpton has yet to offer comment.

It's the same old bullshit...

...from Mexican President Calderon. It's the same old bullshit from President Obama. I'd say it's the same old bullshit from Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper except I don't know enough about the man to have an opinion. It's the same old bullshit from the media who won't take the opportunity to ask the hard questions because the questions might embarrass their idol and effect his chances for re-election. It's the same old bullshit.

Let's Crack Down On Biden

This is not about race. This is no longer about the shooting of a seventeen year old in Sanford Florida. Except for the family of Trayvon Martin I doubt it ever was about anything but reversing the trend toward less gun control. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the New Black Panthers could give a shit less about what happened in Florida. They have an agenda and that agenda is gun control.
BIDEN ON TRAYVON: LET'S CRACK DOWN ON GUNS
VP Biden I have an idea. Lets crack down on race hustling political opportunists and politicians like you. What's say we start during this election cycle.

Law allowing deadly force by citizens raises questions

Seriously?

Mr. District Attorney, If you don't have any physical or scientific evidence to refute the shooter's story then the shooter is innocent and your prosecution is moot. If you don't like it, tough shit. If that makes your job hard more tough shit. Your job should be hard. You, a judge, and a jury have the potential to strip a person of their freedom. THAT should be hard.

If you want to use happenings down in Florida to push an agenda here in North Carolina we can address that during the next election cycle.
