These clowns with a rifle tried to rob a lady...

...at her back door. She went and got her gun, and fired a warming shot. They ran. Nobody was hurt, and that's a good thing.

H/T to Bob.

Gallup: Support for ban on assault weapons hits all-time low

“All-time” means “in the 20 years they’ve been measuring this,” but still. In 1996, amid soaring public concern about crime, support for a ban stood at 57/42. Twenty years later, after a long period of stupendous decline in crime rates in many major cities, it stands at … 36/61. As recently as four years ago, the gap between support for a ban and opposition was still fairly narrow at 44/51. Four years later, the bottom has dropped out. Huh.
Just another factoid that the Left will ignore at will.

Total US Firearms: Not 300 Million, but 412-660 Million?

I can buy that. So we know 300 million is a bogus number. It's higher. Considerably higher. Yeah, that's gotta drive those anti-gun f**ktards crazy. Heh. Good.

The Bully Party

Team Clinton has succeeded in perpetuating one of the greatest evils I have seen in my lifetime. Her side has branded Trump supporters (40%+ of voters) as Nazis, sexists, homophobes, racists, and a few other fighting words. Their argument is built on confirmation bias and persuasion. But facts don’t matter because facts never matter in politics. What matters is that Clinton’s framing of Trump provides moral cover for any bullying behavior online or in person. - Scott Adams
As bad as it was during the Obama runs, it wasn't this bad. I'd thought of Trump as a bully. No evidence. He just struck me as the type. He'd be a piker compared to Hillary Clinton.

Castaway Odyssey by Eric Flint and Rik Spoor

this fifth in their Boundary series and a direct sequel to their Castaway Planet. Here another group of crewmen/colonists work to survive the accident that set them adrift in space. Good story, characterizations, and solid science fiction of the the old school. I enjoyed it as much as the first. I hope there will be a third.

in Tennessee, a man breaks into the home of his estranged wife to do her harm and has harm done to him instead. She shot him. dead. You might also note that the protective order against him did damn little to protect her while the pistol worked quite well.

Alliance of Shadows by Larry Correia and Mike Kupari

It's the last of the Dead Six trilogy and I liked it. It didn't hold me as well as the previous two or any of their solo novels, and I'm not sure I could tell you why. I read two other books at the same time I read this one. I don't know. Still, I liked it and will read anything else they write: together or solo.

I bought it on a whim because it looked interesting and the price was right. Then I found myself reading it at every available moment. I even put aside the latest Correia novel. That's how good it was. It held my attention throughout and kept me guessing. I will read the next in the series. Highly Recommended.

The Accountant

I would like to suggest a John Wick meets the Accountant movie. Anybody Listening? Yes, I liked The Accountant. Well done all around. Interesting story with good performances by all and lots of action, lots of guns, and to my eye a director and crew who at least tried to get the gun stuff right. Go watch it and enjoy.

Armageddon Girl by C. J. Carell

I probably wouldn't have picked this one up if not for the five star review by S. M. Stirling. This wasn't a blurb but an actual review. That was unusual enough that I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. General plot is college student pulled in to an alternate universe where super-heroes are real and now she is one. No cardboard characterizations here. We get a well written, we plotted look at a new world. I liked it and will be picking up the sequels. Highly Recommended.

No interest. Neither has anything to say that will influence my vote. It might be fun to hear Trump's response if Hillary brings up his "lewd" comments, but not nearly enough to watch. I'd rather watch paint dry.

A Win [Mostly] for the Good Guys

Federal Judge Overturns Ban on Openly Carrying Guns in Public
The Bad Guys got to keep licensing requirements for individuals , storage restrictions on firearms in the home, and the ban on magazines holding over ten rounds.

Firearms registration, the ban on long gun caliber restrictions above .223, the ban based on certain "assault weapon" characteristics [a pistol grip under the action of the weapon, a folding or telescoping stock, a flare launcher, a flash suppressor, a forward pistol grip], the ban on carrying a handgun in public, and a $1,000 excise tax on pistols got tossed. I think we got more than we lost so this is a win [mostly] for the Good Guys.
