No!

Mexico Repeats Call for U.S. Gun Ban while Ignoring the Obvious
Once you get your own house in order without screwing with my enumerated rights, you can come calling again. the answer will still be no.

UPDATE: Now that's interesting. Blogger apparently didn't like my title on this post. The word "No". It won't show up. "I Don't Think So" shows up fine. I switched them up a few times with the same result. Seriously strange. No with punctuation works fine, so "No!" it is. Huh?

The Man Who Would Be King by Rudyard Kipling

Die Trying by Lee Child

The Last Centurion by John Ringo

I got the Kipling off of Project Gutenberg. I've read Kipling's poetry but never his prose. No Excuse, but I'll tell you Kim is on the list and I'll be going back to Gutenberg again soon. Damn good read.

This is the second of Child’s Jack Reacher novels I've read. The first was good but slow. This one had a faster pace and I liked it a bit more. I'll read more by him at some point.

Then there is Ringo. I read The Last Centurion when it came out in 2008 and really liked it then. His points on the Left were on point then and with Hillary running again it is now timely once more. If you haven't read it do. The link above goes to the Baen page for the novel with the first nine chapters free. Can't beat that.

Regina Spektor - “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” - Official Video (From Kubo And The Two Strings)

The movie is excellent. I'd have to say it is my favorite movie of the year so far. I cried at the end.

I like Regina Spector's cover of ""While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I like Regina Spektor. I'll admit the original Beatles' version has an attraction as well.

In Germany...

In the wake of a 2002 massacre in eastern Germany's city of Erfurt, where a 19-year-old shot dead 16 people, Germany tightened its firearms ownership law several times. It established a federal weapons registry in 2013.

The law now requires tight regional council supervision of licensed hunters and sporting shooters, psychological suitability tests, proof of the need to own a weapon as well as weapons and munitions expertise.

The minimum age is 18. The latest figures show that there are some 1.9 million gun licenses issued to sporting shooters, hunters and collectors in Germany, and some six million legally registered weapons. The number of illegal weapons is speculative.

These are the policies our own progressives would love to implement, yet these laws do no good. Weapons still find there way into the "wrong hands". For gun owners, that would be terrorists and criminals. For Progressives the wrong hands are anybody but theirs.

SJWs Demand 'Deus Ex' Video Game Not Let Gamers Make 'Immoral' Decisions
That's what normal people do. Instead, these SJW grumps insist the rest of us conform to their world view. I say no, and if the producers of that game don't say the same I suspect they'll have a flop on their hands. Their choice.

The King of Las Vegas by John Van Stry

I picked it up on impulse and damn was it a good read. Reminds me a bit of Dead Easy by William Mark Simmons. I'll definitely be reading his other novels. Highly recommended.

This drawing is by Johnny Craig of EC fame. Post EC he worked mostly in advertising and this is probably a preliminary sketch from that work. I'd love one of his comic pages but would rather not mortgage the house. This will do.

This is by Joe Pimetel out of Brazil. To my knowledge he hasn't done any professional work here in the States. He doesn't seem to have any presence online. No idea about Brazil, but I do like his style.

The Law?

We ARE the Law

It's like where I work. We're told the General Orders are for the employees not the Administration. Ya know, rules are for the little people.

Not Just Gore.

Democrat Operatives with Bylines

I got a call this morning.

I don't remember my source for the new DDTC "guidance" intended to put gunsmith's out of business. I didn't even blog on it. I just sent off emails to my Senators and Congressman. I got a phone call from one Senator Tillis' staffers this morning asking me about it. She said she wanted to make sure my take on it matched hers before talking to Tillis about it. I have never gotten that kind of response from an email to any politician...ever. That's kinda neat, but my take away from the short conversation is that this thing had gone under the radar of our representatives in DC. That may not be the case now, but those of you who haven't called or written your representatives on this matter probably oughta. Just a thought.

The Last Roman by Edward Crichton

A Special Forces team gets thrown back in time to Caligula's Rome. It is well written and very readable, but the plot is kinda predictable. I liked it, but I haven't decided if I'm picking up the next in the series yet. We'll see.

This is on par with the Gadsden flag, t-shirt, cap, whatever, being racist. Me? I don't wear camo and have intention of starting because some SJW twit is trying to make a statement. Libertarian VP Candidate Video; Gun Ban for Terror Watch List, Rifles are "Weapons of Mass Destruction"

Suicide Squad

I liked it, but it wasn't the film it could have been. There were too many characters and too much going on in too tight a time frame to develop any rapport with the audience. I'm not sure if a longer film would have made it better, BUT I did like it. The makers gave me high expectations and failed to meet them, BUT I liked it. Oh, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn? Hot, and the best thing in the movie. Did I say i liked it?

Suicide Squad comes in about mid-list for the year.

The Dragon Hammer by Tony Daniel

Daniel isn't a new writer, but this is the first novel by him, I've read. I tried his collaboration with David Drake a few years back, but it didn't grab me. When I saw this on the Baen website, my initial inclination was to give it a pass. Then I read the sample and had to finish the book. It is set in an alternate North American were magic exists and the Vikings vie with the Romans for control. Good story and characters with a tight style that stays on task. I liked it, and will buy the next book in the series.
