I'll take LaPierre's "paranoia" over Bloomberg's dishonesty...

...any day.
Francis Wilkinson, Bloomberg View: No one can spin panic, paranoia like NRA’s Wayne LaPierre

Vote for Grass Roots North Carolina [BUMPED AGAIN]

When the Brady Bunch decided to sue Lucky Gunner they didn't expect to lose and they didn't expect the presiding judge to award Luck Gunner $111,971.10 as a partial reimbursement for their legal fees. They aren't sure when, or if, they'll ever see the money but they have decided to donate whatever they get to groups that support and defend the Second Amendment. It is not winner take all. the money will be distributed proportionally. My point, Grass Roots North Carolina is on the list. They are the leading gun rights organization in North Carolina and could use the support. Go vote for them here.

UPDATE: Changed the Title.

This will be entertaining.

I'm not talking about the movie, though I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'm talking about the Left's reaction to it. The trash talking has already begun, and it doesn't even come out until January.

Who do we thank for this?

Another NRA Defeat: North Carolina Moms Successfully Defend Handgun Background Check Requirement From Gun Lobby-Backed Repeal Effort
That distinction would go to these 34 Republicans. They can claim their vote was a law and order vote. they voted to strip the permit repeal from the bill at the behest of the North Carolina Sheriff's Association, but their actions gave bragging rights to Bloomberg and his minions. They stabbed the people who helped put them in office in the back. We need to remember these people in the next election cycle. We need to send every damn one of them home.

The Lion's Gate: On the Front Lines of the Six Day War by Stephen Pressfield

I haven't been a big reader of nonfiction lately. I noticed Pressfield's The Lion's Gate the other day and picked it up. It's an oral [sorta]history of the Six Day War and it is excellent. I loved his Gates of Fire but hadn't been able to get past the first couple of chapters or any thing else he had written. This I knocked out in a couple of days. Highly recommended.

The Girl of Hrusch Avenue: A Powder Mage Short Story by Brian McClellan

I've had this for a while, as well as his novels, but hadn't gotten around to them. This was good enough that I'm now well into the first novel. I'll let you know how it works out.

Pixels by Patrick Jean

The Adam Sandler film of the same name is based on this short film. The Sandler version isn't bad either. It isn't a great movies but it is good fun.

Put him in the general prison population.

“Trooper of the Year” Good Cop Sexually Assaults a 4-Yr-Old Girl Multiple Times, “Cries” When He is Sentenced
He should be spending the rest of his life in prison. He violated the community's trust, but more important he sexually assaulted a four year old. He assaulted a four year old and got a $5000 fine and four years in jail. I've been told on more than one occasion that police are held to a higher standard, and no one is above the law. Prove it. Hold him to a higher standard.

Overkill

Pacific Palisades Neighborhood Evacuated After Live Ammo Reportedly Found
Just firearms and ammunition? Seems like a bit of overkill to me, but, of course, it's California.

More detail on the arms here. Still seems like overkill.

Hold on a second there...

Military leaders are in part hamstrung by a 19th century law that bars the federal government from using the military for law enforcement purposes.
Except we aren't arming them to act as law enforcement but to defend themselves in case of attack. The Posse Comitatus Act doesn't apply, but paranoid as I am about the Obama Administration, I can see them using this as an excuse to repeal under their "never let a crisis go to waste" approach to government.

“What’s next,” he wondered. “Will they take away someone’s right to vote, claiming they’re not competent?”

Only if they are conservative Republicans.

There'll be blood in the streets...

Most armed service members are not trained to neutralize active shooters, and putting more loaded guns in their hands creates its own risks.
That bit of wisdom comes from Bloomberg's online anti-gun propaganda website. You wanna know the level of training you need to stop an active shooter? Aim your weapon at him, be sure of your target, and shoot the fucker. If the shooter is already shooting the people around you, it is that simple. The training and experience our service members have will certainly suffice.

The antis constantly make their blood in the streets argument. It constantly fails.

We may not be at war with Radical Islam, but they are damn well at war with us.

The answer depends on your viewpoint of the Second. For my part, I think it a crime that citizens under military authority aren't allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights. Had they, we might have fewer dead Marines.

Ant-Man [2015]

With Marvel flicks you get good actors, good writing and plot, good special effects. Good get your money's worth. There's a lot to be said for that. What you don't really get is anything new or innovative. The question is do you care? Not really. My daughter and I had a good time, and I suspect, so will you.

Except in these three instances possession of a firearm did make the owner safer, and these are just three of the estimated 2.5 million annual [1993] defensive gun uses. It should also be noted that David Hemenway Ph.D, the author, of the study has been rehashing the same old claims for some time and each time Gary Kleck Ph.D. refutes them. No surprise here. The antis have never let fact get in the way of the party lie.

Ya know? That's f****d-up however you read it.

Yup.

I don’t care about the Confederate flag or the Confederacy, but I do care about millions of Southerners being smeared, dead American soldiers who died defending their homes being attacked, and the disgusting, un-American attempts to purge history. If you’re okay with trying to smear and humiliate so many good and decent people just because they live in the South, then you can kiss my white southern ass.

Two-Fisted Tales #35

Art by Jack Davis.

I may have posted this some time in the past. Don't remember, it just seemed like a good time to put it up again, and here's a thought. Do you have any idea just how much of our cultural heritage might go down the memory hole to please these activists with a hard on for Lee's battle flag? I can't even count the art, movies, comics, television, books that feature characters and images from the Civil War. Companies are pulling Civil War video games because they have images of the Stars and Bars. This is just stupid. Enough.

Odd, that?

After reading the unfortunate bigoted opinion on Judge Thomas, I was informed that George Takei (Mr. Zulu) is a Liberal Democrat and I was surprised. In that Lucky Gunner v. Brady lawsuit...

...there was a question as to who would actually have to pay that $111,000 in legal fees: the Brady Bunch or their patsies.
A federal judge has ordered that the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence pay the legal fees of an online ammunition dealer it sued for the Aurora movie theater shooting.
This is called justice.

We all know where this is going.

Russia is going to review whether or not it was legal for the Soviet Union to recognize the Baltic states as independent nearly 25 years ago, according to a report by Interfax.
...And then they can review whether Stalin's occupation of the Baltic States in 1939 and installation of pro-Soviet governments was legal... right? Didn't think so.

Now that's embarrassing.

Antarctic sea ice has grown to a record large extent for a second straight year, baffling scientists seeking to understand why this ice is expanding rather than shrinking in a warming world.
Maybe 'cuz the science isn't settled and it's not as clear cut as they want people to believe 'cuz their science is politics by a different name. No prob. They'll find some way to explain it that supports their agenda, excuse me, science.
