Ten days after Michael Bloomberg announced a $50 million investment in gun control and proclaimed the National Rifle Association should be afraid of him, the Bloomberg-backed Everytown for Gun Safety group is taking the fight directly to NRA — picking up a chunk of the tab for hundreds of activists and gun violence survivors to attend the annual NRA convention in Indianapolis. If that's the best support you can buy, you've already lost.

All good reads. Now I'm rereading David Drake's and S. M. Stirling's General series. It's been awhile but I don't see anything new I like out there right now.

Now Clinton is taking part in an event for Giffords's gun control group, which supports the "expanded background checks that failed in the Senate last year."

"If the word got out or if people knew they could come to Tennessee and carry a weapon, I'm sure that armed robberies are going to increase," said Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray in a WBIR report. The bill passed the Tennessee Senate but still has to get through their House. I suspect the opposition of some Sheriff's has more to do with losing say over who gets to carry and permit fees than the concerns noted above.
"Apparently they're wanting everyone in the state of Tennessee to carry a firearm. I'm against that. I think it's ridiculous," he continued. "This is not 1875. It just seems to me this is going to escalate all the crime to a higher level."

No ID required. Fill it out and mail it in or drop it off. The form did ask for either your Driver's License number or the last four of your Social Security number, so I guess there may be some verification of some sort. Scary isn't it.
A vodka packaged in a gun-shaped bottle alongside a glass grenade has been found in breach of UK alcohol marketing laws for its “inappropriate” association to violence and aggression. That's just silly.
H/T to Jeff.

UPDATE [4/9/2014]: Ah, that's one way to lower your crime stats. Gotta wonder just how much of that is going on.
